Straight through exhaust?

So, the battery bulge in the bottom of the mini has been bugging me since I first saw the exhaust system... It seems so ridiculous to make the exhaust go around a completely arbitrary bulge in the bottom of the car. Does anyone think there would be a benefit to chopping that bugger off and doing a straight one-pipe exhaust? I'm thinking a 2.5" pipe off the header straight back (with a resonator and canister muffler).

Other question is where to hide the battery. I'm thinking an Odyssey (or other tiny batt) in one of the side parts of the trunk?

Any ideas? Has anyone done this before?

I know Danny @ MINICorsa did it...and it is loud as hell from what I recall. More people have done it too, so it certainly can be done
