Dinan CAI replacement air filter

Hello,

About a year ago, I installed the Dinan CAI on my R53 MCS. I would like to replace the air filter but I received an insane price from an UK dealer - $240 only for the filter !!! (the Dinan site sells them for $70 but does not ship to Romania)

I would like to know if there are any other air filters compatible with the Dinan CAI that I could purchase.

Thank you!

A quick search should get you the k&n filter that fits...it is a bit smalller (diameter of the filter to get it to fit in the airbox, since it has a stright neck/connector) but it should fit and run fine...just clean it more often since it will have a few less pleats to trap the dirt...the K&N filters are a cloth cleanable filter, good for 1,000,0000 miles...just be sure to get the cleaning kit....the oil is different than the cleaning kits for the foam filters. When I am at my other computer, I'll post the filter #, but a quick search should find it for you on this site.

Thank you, Zippy! Did you also switch to the k&n filter or do you use the original one?

Still waiting to do the change.....it is tuff to stomach even Dinan US price for a disposable filter. But it is clean for now.
If you are a bit of a gambling man, quite a few folks have cleaned the stock dinian filter...it is a cotton gauze like the K&N, but without seeing some oil tests on folks that have done it, I would still wonder.
The K&N # is RU-1460
ITG also makes a foam filter...tuff to find in the US since the us company that sold it is gone, but in Europe, you might have better luck.

Edit....someone else says ru-1480
Might have to measure the filter or the neck to be sure...maybe somebody will post with the definitive answer.

Can anyone confirm the correct choice? Is it RU-1460 or RU-1480? Thanks!

Bump to see if anyone has the correct K&N part number for the filter?

Also - is there a UNI filter that would fit the DINAN intake? Just can't justify the insane cost from DINAN.

Thanks all!

We stock the Foam ITG filter for the Dinan intake. Just call cause I don't have it on the site yet.

K&N RU-1480 does fit, I just replaced my Dinan filter today. The K&N filter is a little smaller than the Dinan filter.

I replaced my original Dinan filter with a Foam ITG filter about a year ago. A few months later when I opened the Dinan cover to check the filter, I noticed that the ITG filter had seperated from it's interface tube. I don't recommend the ITG foam filter replacement for Dinan.

Just to bring this thread up to date (May,2013): I just ordered a replacement air filter direct from Dinan. Filter was $49, Calif. tax plus S&H took the total to $63-something.

Anyone know what the K&N part number is for the filter Way is selling?

I think the OP was just trying to find a better price, shipping to Romania probably is a killer. I don't know if the OP has tried the K & N recharge kit but I have cleaned and reoiled my Dinan filter with it several times. No problems yet.

I'm using the ru1480...
It is a round one, fits...but it still cost ABOUT THE SAME FROM AMAZON as the perfect fit one from waymotorworks....so i doubt you will save any or much $.
I bought the round one....installed it, then found emw was listing one about a week later....
the round one seems fine...will just need more frequent cleaning to keep the flow up.
