Thoughts about Mini Madness

FiI will be getting an R53 in the next few months, so I have been researching some go-fast parts. I found this site, Mini-madness and they have what seems to be a pretty well put together kit. It has all of the essentials and the from there I was thinking of getting a new JCW head+cam+injectors (when money allows). Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this kit specifically?

Thanks!

Random thoughts:

JCW head is a waste of money. There are much better options out there. I have a JCW head; it's coming off this spring for something better....

Head/Cam/injectors + tune is the way to go longterm.

In the meantime, since you're looking at head/cam/injectors in the future, it would make more sense for now to go with a CAI and pulley, and save your money. You're going to need a tune anyway if you're going with larger injectors, so the ECU is a waste of money. You could do the CAI, pulley, and exhaust for significantly less money than the stage I, with virtually identical results, and be better off in the long run for your future mods.

Just my 2 cents...

The vendors that post on the forum a lot can do more than sell you parts, they can listen to you and help you in the planning and if you run into issues.

Waymotorworks and RMW have been very helpful answering my questions (and selling me parts)

Alta is also available here and answered questions for me

and others.

Really depends on where you live; those are not difficult mods to do, there may be good shops in your area.

If Way Motor Works is in the area, that would be a great place to start--it would be one stop--they'd have the stuff you need, and be able to install it to boot.

Revolutionmotorworks would be something to consider down the road, when you're ready for cam/head/tune (Way can do this as well), but RMW doesn't do installs. Having spoken with Way, I'm kind of biased in that direction, really don't think you can go wrong there; that's where I'm planning on doing the coup de grace with the Head/Cam/Tune this coming spring...Like HRM said, there's more to just buying parts--good support is kind of critical when you're going down the slippery slope of mods, Way can get you going in the right direction, much moreso than any of us can on these boards.

I plan on doing most of the installs myself except later down the road when I will need a tune. Thanks for the insight guys!

I wanted to add I ahve nothing against mini madness. I may have even bought stuff from them too. (I don't remember)

As far as exhaust, there is a great thread with sound clips and everything. It is a personal preference thing as well as how you will use the car (wifey may not like things if that applies).

Listen and choose and pick what works for you.
