My mini is coming in very soon, and the sales rep called me asking what extras i wanted. He told me Mini offers an exhaust and it is really good. I am skeptical of what he is saying so I was wondering what the stats are on it...

Welcome to North American Motoring, mjfarsi!

I deleted your multiple posts of this same topic. When you press submit, give it a few seconds, then go back and check that it posted. That way you can avoid multiple posts of the same thread or post in the future.

Also, I will move this thread from MINI TALK to the Performance Modifications Forum.

Have fun on the site!

Hey there,

I don't personally know anything about the factory upgrades, but you should try doing a search on it. I know it has been discussed before around here...

Welcome!

Dealers usually say everything they offer is really good. Hell, why would you say you are selling a bad item?

Aftermarket is probably better...

(Edited)
There are no stats on it at this time and few to none of the NAM members have it as far as I know based on past threads. The MINI catalog of accesories does list a Cooper Sport exhaust part No. 18 10 0 141 760 for $675 but so far it has been "reported" that none of us have been able to order it and we think that it is sold in Europe only. There is also a Chrome sport exhaust tip. (See post by me below)

Both the MC and the MCS have lots of options for cat-back exhausts that are aftermarket. Which MINI are you ordering?

(Edited)
For the MC the popular choices are Helix and Rspeed for Cat-back and Remus for (non cat-back) clamp on. Cat-backs are also made by Borla and Magnaflow, Rogue and others. Devil makes a non cat-back as well.

For the MCS the popular choices for more power are UUC, the new 3 piece Milltek, Magnaflow and Borla Race.
Of those only the new Milltek is quiet- on par with the more restrictive Borla Street and JCW kit exhausts.

So go check that part number and see if you can find it in stock.

Just to nitpick, the Remus is not a weld-on. You do cut the old exhaust, but you do not need to do any welding. Instead, you have this spacer and some clamps.

>>There are no stats on it because it does not exist. There is no MINI exhaust available in the US for the MC or the MCS at this time.

I actually saw this performance exhaust at my dealer. They installed it on one of their pre-speced cars and sold it. So someone out there must have it.

If you are correct then Classic Auto campus should have it or be able to order it. I have sent them email to ask for it.
If they find it then I will post here.

Lets say it does exist. How good is it? Nobody knows since nobody has reported they even have it. No one has ordered it and reported about it. Also the price is quite a bit higher than any of the aftermarket exhausts.

OK, I got the reply from Classic Auto Campus:

From: "bmwparts" <bmwparts@classicautocampus.com>

I sell it for $540.00 plus shipping. I haven't sold one yet, so I don't
know how large the box is but my understanding is that its only a
muffler assemly not an entire exhaust. Shipping would be dependant on the
box's size and weight once I can measure/weigh it.

Subject: Need price on MINI sport exhaust for MC

I have a MINI cooper and looking for
Cooper Sport exhaust part No. 18 10 0 141 760 for $675

Can you get this exhaust and for how much?
Thanks.
------------------------

OK folks, the MINI sport exhaust is not Cat-back, just the muffler. So for $540 that is the same price as the Helix Cat-back and about $100 more than the Rspeed Cat-back which are both very good MC exhausts. If the dealer can get the sport muffler in stock and add it to the price for your car loan that would be some advantage-that way the muffler is covered under warranty. The power gains and exhaust note are unknown and likely not to be very good.
