DDMworks intake, just installed

wow, that is a serious difference, love the SC whine!

I'm sure its the same story with any of the other intakes, the fitment is not quite perfect... can anyone second that?

Glad you love it, we've had great luck and been very happy with them.

no carb sticker, but likely theyll overlook it if the box is black since it's not incredibly noticeable.

anyone else have flexing durring install and minor fitment problems or am i alone here??? maybe my mini is bent

That's correct we've found that black DDM intake to be very stealth so most places overlook it.

For the R56 the NM intake just completed Carb testing and passed so it will soon have a sticker.

That's correct. Only power adders do, such as superchargers and turbo chargers.

If you are referring to what this article indicates: http://www.team-integra.net/sections...?ArticleID=466, then even the stock intake is not able to completely provide positive pressure because there is a hole in the back of it in the area where the master cylinder is located.

I'm not the best on this subject. Anyone else want to elaborate?

Yeah, great intake! Friends riding in my MINI say "what was that?!" when I step on it.

No fitment issues with mine.
Those reporting fitment issues: What part didn't fit well?

ok, yeah, the fastener holes are a bit of, doesnt seal on the bottom, overall it works, there is no way to account for these small variations in larger scale manufacturing, I understand that. the metal flexes enough to get all the hardware in there... so not a REAL problem, just a little gripe about a GREAT product.

I dont get a whistle (maybe I will when i get a pulley on).

as for positive pressure, not sure that is as inportant as where it draws from, that's why I went with a close box (even though it's not totally sealed) design, more cold air from the cowl. can you elaborate R53?

The size of the cowl hole is very important, it doesnt work the way we all think it does, bigger cowl hole = more air gushing in = better performance. If i remember correctly there are only 2 intakes on the market which creates positive pressure, this is the JCW intake and the hybrid intake from the U.K
Positive pressure causes air to be denser which in turns improves performance.

that would be an issue with an NA car, i'm really not sure having air sucked from the cowl (which is low pressure) is an issue... according to motoring underground's post comparing intake designs, the closed box design (they tested the m7, but also DDMworks and Cravenspeed have similar design) makes more power.

works with supercharged the same way. I was also going to get the ddm or m7 intake till i read a post somewhere of someone saying that the m7 caused higher IAT and lowered the PSI over stock according to tests they performed.

not really sure that's possible... unless the SC is really weak(it isnt). i'd like to see some of this for reference...

here's the research i based my decision off of: http://www.motoringunderground.com/f...read.php?t=700

Well what would you expect, it was tested on M7 grounds

most tuners rate the JCW the best intake, even rmw said once, the best he has seen is the JCW and why is that?? because of how it was designed and materials that was used.

I have also tested a similar design intake to the M7, and i did not even see a 1 hp gain. it was 0.9 hp

I want to defend my new purchase!! I'm still convinced it makes power, and do you know if the dinan intake is the same at the JCW? Looks about the same to me... Anyhow, I'd like to see independent analysis on this, cause apparently my data was skewed towards m7... Didn't even know.

I clearly understand. You should put your stock airbox back on and do a dyno run, then put the M7 do another dyno run and see if it does any good. If it does good, great, if not, sell it to someone and show them that data from motoring underground
Dinan is a good intake aswell, problem with that one is that the filter cannot be re-used and i'm not sure if the dinan filter can be replaced by another filter.
