That's exactly right. It will take, maybe, an hour to completely away, smell... etc.

There's some partial throttle droning around 2500-3100rpm, give or take, but other than that it's pretty quiet. It's nothing unbearable. I wasn't able to test it out with the windows up and didn't really want to push it in the heat. Ambient temps were 100f+ today!!

Sounds just like the Invidia setup I have. I would guess they are using the same mufflers. Not sure if you can get a discount for the dent without shipping the damaged goods back.

Now, the tips. That part matters alot because that's the part everyone sees. If they are not properly lined up, I would send it back and ask them to reweld them or send a new kit.

I don't think the dent is worth the effort of sending it back. Yea it sucks, but doesn't really affect anything.

As for the tips, it's not a matter of them lining up, its the angle at which they were cut. I doubt a new kit would be any different. My guess is they had someone cut each side separately and assemble the kits later down the line. A little filing or grinding and they should be as straight as ever.

Really we're talking about a sub $300 system here. Any way you look at it, you can't expect it to be perfect. That's why people pay the $700 price tag for other system, they don't want to deal with modifying it at all.

So it was either ship it back for a full refund, or get a $50 partial refund. I opted for the $50.

So because of a small ding, my exhaust is now $229

I definitely can't complain!

Awesome, you managed to convince me. I'm going to see about ordering mine sometime next week. The tips issue kind of bothers me, but for the price I think I will over look it. Whats the best way to coat the tips after grinding them to adjust shape? Looking maybe for a medium dark gun-metal look.

If you want to paint the tips, scuff the surfaces with a fine-grit sandpaper. Probably something like 1500 grit or 2000 grit. Since it's a heat surface, I suggest 500-degree engine primer and paint.

Thanks Plasticknives.
Is the most of the droning coming from the back of the car or from the middle section there the 1st resonator is located?
For the price I think I'll just weld in additional resonator to minimize the droning.

If it's not too much trouble could you tell me how much space there is between the last turn and end of the tips? I have a couple of nice rolled Borla tips about 8.5" long, wonder if they will not stick too far back if I'll replace the original tips.

The droning definitely comes from the rear end. I'll get those measurements to you sometime soon.

Hey PK,

Been about 3-4 weeks, do you have any further data on the exhaust set up pros or cons ? Any thoughts of running it with out the resonator. Reason I ask is that I run the JCW w/o resonator and it actaully sounds better now.

Really looks great and you can't beat the price. Seems to be better than the OBX.

Thanks.

No complaints. Adjusted my driving a bit to avoid droning. No leaks that I am aware of. Still love the tone and more pronounced burble. Been too lazy to adjust the tips or hangers.. I'll get around to it eventually.

Honestly I'm not sure how that would affect it. It would be a pretty easy chop and weld, however.

Yeah, just wondering if that was a viable solution to eliminating the "drone" you said it had at low RMP's.

Wow, finally got mine and installed it. The sound is perfect, exactly what I wanted. Its not too loud and not too soft. Mine has been on for a week, the drone volume varies on the weather. Installation was a breeze, removal of the old system was not, lol. Also installed a B&M short shifter while I was down there, made it a lot more simple. Overall, best bang for your buck exhaust in my opinion. Unless, your looking for HP and weight loss gains. Thanks all for your input.

Has anyone installed it on 04-06 model yet? What is the difference between 02-03 and later model? Will it be a difficult to instal exhaust for '02 on the 05 model?

'02 to Dec. '03 is one range; Jan. '04 to end of '06 production is the other. You have to specify your month/year or you may end up with the wrong kit.

ImportFreak, temperature and humidity always affect exhaust tones. The Flowmaster setup I had on my old '05 Monte Carlo SS always sounded better on humid/cloudy and rainy days.

The inner hangers on the mufflers face a different way. You would have to cut and reweld them (or torch and bend) to make it work.

Power gains? Um.....if there is, its very slight. You feel something, but no much. You maybe get 2-5 HP gain, but you would have to dino it to prove it. I would say its more for sound and looks.
