R56 Turbo Inlet Hard Tube?

Is anyone making a turbo inlet hard tube? Alta was offering one on their site, but it disappeared. NM is rumored to have one in the mill. Currently have Alta's silicone tube, but it doesn't clear the overflow tank and will eventually crack. I've heard the JCW has a hard tube. Will fit the "S"? HELP!

Just so you guys know there have been a few issues fitting the JCW pipe to UK cars. One slipped off whilst driving and sucked stuff into the turbo with rumours of another doing the same.

The factory JCWs inlet is a tiny bit bigger than the stock S. Alta sold two different versions of their hard pipe to accomodate this.

See here for an example:

The fitting issues can be fixed by getting a T-bolt clamp from Clint @ DoS

You can get it at your local Mini dealership. Part # 13717582453. Tell them you're a member at NAM and they might give you a 10% discount

Thanks for the heads-up, Andy. There was an error in the shipping price field for the clamp. I just fixed that and refunded folks that ordered the clamp only $2.00 each. Other orders placed today are OK.

Best,

-Clint

You're one of the most stand up businessman in the NAM community. Not only do you create great products, but you also take great care of your consumers . And for this reason, you have so many loyal customers . I really hope you can finish where Riss Racing left off with the o2 sensor. I'd love to get one for the downpipe

Thousand words indeed. Picked up the JCW inlet tube today. Got home and discovered there's no way to connect it to my '08 MCS's MAS sensor! Checked RealOEM and found that the latest (1-2009!) JCW inlet tube was no different than the S. What gives? Might be able to connect with a silicone sleave. Thought this was supposed to be a straight swap.

BTW, ordered that clamp Fri. and got it today! Clint at DoS must be putting the torch to the USPS, LoL.

Hi Dwight,

It's a straight swap. We've done it on '07 and '08 MCS's with no problem.

Please snap a pic or two and drop some comments to this thread so that we can see what you're up against. There's probably an easy solution to this.

Thanks Clint, but I think I figured it out. The hardness of the JCW tube scared me off. Didn't think the OEM clamp could make it seal to the MAS. It does, right? I tend to be the cautious type, LoL. - DW

Is there any hard numbers for the improvement with the JCW pipe? The stock pipe seems pretty stiff as it is.

Yup, the OEM clamp will seal the MAF/MAS to the tube (despite its harder durometer) just fine.

I may have to order one of these clamps, there's a little bit of oil residue around the turbo/JCW pipe connection on my car and I can smell a bit of burning oil when I'm running the car hard. Been running the JCW inlet tube for 14k miles with no problems otherwise!

YO Clint, you were right. The JCW tube went right on with a little modding for the OCC. BTW, this engine bay might look familiar. It's the one you put your noise maker delete into at AMVIV. Does that Super AGS ring a bell LoL. The CF STB is gone 'cause it couldn't handle the extra torque of the RMW tune. The new NM bar took care of that just fine. Thanks again for your help.

No problem, Dwight. Any time! I totally remember your car from AMVIV. If you can make it, I hope to see you at MITM or MTTS this year.
