Heads and Cams

This question is more for the vendors but any imput would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to do a Head & Cam swap sometime in the next 6 mo. or so and was leaning towards the JCWs head & cam simply because they are factory pieces. But I know there are a lot of aftermarket heads out there and would like to see how they compare.

You need to provide more details about your current setup for recommendations. Pulley, CAI, exhaust, tune?

If your thinking of a JVW head, just send yours out for better porting and put the extra money in your pocket. The JCW head is just cleaned up for better flow mainly on the exhaust side. Look at RMW, Thumper or whoever you want if you want more power. I have the RMW head and cam and have no problems. It all depends on what your looking for.

I was looking more for a spec comparisons,

for example:
JCW vs. RMW

What are the specific differences between the two, not members likes or dislikes but a straight data sheet comparison. Kind of an opportunity for some of the venders to strut their stuff.

Good luck with that one. You'd be better off calling the vendors.

The JCW uses the stock cam, so swapping for a JCW head/cam, out isn't a very big bang for the buck.

For what it's worth, I have a JCW head, and knowing now what I didn't know then, I'd go a different route. In fact, I will, once I can get everything set up with a tune--that's the hard part....

Anyway, you're not going to get meaningful comparisons, just extrapolations. Too many variables a for head to head, too many competing egos/agendas as well. Determine what your goals are, read up on the various offerings, and talk to some people to accomplish them. IMHO this will be easier than comparing a given head to the JCW head...

I have the ENDYN head and NS2 cam.

the head has larger intake and exhaust ports and 1mm oversize intake valves and 2mm oversize exhaust valves which makes for more flow. Much more flow than JCW. the JCW head is just the stock head that has been cleaned a bit. Not ported really, but not polished either. To me its nothing more than the stock head. Its good for maybe 5 hp haha.

The cams are a total different story. You can just use the search button and find out more about them. Tons more

Also for heads. You can get ENDYN or Mynes performance to build you head however you want. I know Thumper also provides different options for his head work and does fantastic work for a good price. In fact thumper performance provides head and cam combos. Those three provide great stuff.

On my car with the RMW head vs the Stock head all other things perfectly equal, same dyno, same tires, same outside air temp etc etc. It did 12ft lbs of torque more from the point we started the dyno (2500rpm IIRC). At 7k it was a 25 ft/lbs gain.

Switching to a JCW head will not yield much gain in horsepower, I would have to say less than 10 horsepower, its not worth the money. Get an aftermarket BVH if you are looking for more power and the ability to rev higher such as RMW, Thumper, Endyn. Use the search button and you can find dyno graphs.
