Positive Steering Response System Alta?

Has anyone installed this and if so is it worth it. My MINI with after market wheels bounce all over the place on crappy roads. I would love to install this if it really works. Also any idea how much to get it installed. Alta says it's very hard to install. I will have my shop do it.

Let me know. THanks.

Mine was the same way and I had a set of Powerflex bushings installed. It drives like new now.

Can't say about the Alta system but I figured I would let you know about Powerflex as well.

I like the Alta PSRS bushing.

The steering is firmer quicker and you have a lot more feel.

The down side is all the above.

The install is difficult--- here a thread on install:

Got 'em, love 'em, but they're not for the timid. There will be more NVH. There will be less tramlining, more precise response, and quicker return to center.

Most important lesson learned: Loctite red on the sleeve to knuckle interface. Loctite red on the set screws. You do not want these coming loose as you will not be able to reach them all to retighten once the knuckle is installed. Some folks have tack-welded the control arm to the sleeve so they can make due without the set screws.

Everything about this is true (almost).

The only thing I found wrong is about the red loctite. I couldn't have done the application more correctly, and within a week of hard driving, the set screws came loose. Save yourself the trouble and weld the damn things. It won't be hard to grind off the tacks anyway.

Good luck, they're more than worth the trouble (so far). I hope they don't deteriorate over the years (otherwise I'm gonna rip them out and replace them with powerflex bushings)

are you guys talking about the sleeve that holds the shocks into the knuckle? if so its not loctite you need its torque. or are you reffering to the two 19's I think it is that holds the lower control arm to the knuckle?

either way, Ive taken hundreds of those things apart and we never use loctite, the key really is torque spec...... or slightly above . if you tell me the bolt, Ill tell you how it should be tightened

powerflex bushings

I have installed the polyurethane bushings, and do the job.
The installation is easier then the ALTA system.
If you have a bearing installation tool you can do it by yourself.

no, the sleeve which the control arm goes through. Tack weld the end of the arm to the bushing sleeve
