Drivetrain LOUDEST intake for the MCS???
I was yapping about how loud my MC intake is to an MCS owner, and he asked me what the loudest MCS intake is.
So, if any of you MCS owners have an SPL meter, or just your thoughts - which intake is loudest for the MCS?
TIA...

dandp,
Do you have the Viper for the MC?
I would think that the K&N typhoon, Moss mini or Rspeed intake would be the louder intakes.

I would think that the BMP intake or the Alta intake would be the two that could be the loudest for the MCS.
If you do the rear partition/airbox mod then that helps to bring a bit more sound into the driver's area.
I have the Madness intake with airbox (lots of 2 inch holes) mod and my air intake noise is loud but then I have lots of sound deadening material in my doors to keep out the noise.
Now for all your loudness fans. You hear it, you think it is cool, you think you are going fast but sorry to say, loudness does not "always" equal any additional power. Your results may vary.

I have the Monster MINI Force intake. Loud.
In any case, I am looking specifically for MCS loudness levels....power is not an issue here. This is about aggressive sounding noise coming from beneath the bonnet.

By virtue of the design and the intake opening being 3 inches from the firewall I have to say the pipercorss / viper system is the loudest. I also own the k&n Typhoon, BMP, and Rouge.

bmp sweeeeet head banger music. it doesn't sound good unless its loud. but it has to be in tune also and the bmp is in tune. not to sure you can hear it outside of the car though. the 15% pulley helps also.
loud as in noise or loud as in hp/torque gains?
if i had a regular cooper, i would not want to be making excessive
noise while putting along besides a modded fast civic...but that's
just me. i guess if you had a secret juice bottle under your seat
that's another story.
i dont plan on putting any noise makers on my MCS either. the
car is good quiet and quick. im tired of slow noisy cars.

And I will also make it clear that I do not have delusions of grandeur by making my regular Cooper excessively loud. I know what my car can and cannot do.
Kenchan - are you implying that regular Cooper owners should keep the Cooper granny quiet? And PLEASE do not lump us MC modders in with the "slow noisy cars" I am assuming you weren't making a direct stab at the Cooper owners who CHOOSE to mod their Cooper instead of getting something fatser....
dandp- naw, i didn't mean it that way. Like you said, just know your limits on the car (even MCS owners alike) and it'll be a more enjoyable ride when it comes
to that moment when you have to drag race someone into the expressway or
pulling away or something like that. its embarrassing to watch someone's
nice looking car make a lot of noise and not go anywhere.
ive had my share of slow (in acceleration) cars in the past, so i know what
im talking about.
basically, don't kid yourself.

This thread is really about intake sound levels on the MCS, not making your car sound like something it isn't.
Any mods I have done that enhance sound were done for my pure enjoyment of their aggressive nature. When I'm driving on twisty back roads, I enjoy the rumble. I have had guys in Audi S8's and 911's floor it at stoplights to beat me off the line - trust me, I don't rev my engine or signal any sort of intent to race. Our cars make people want to race them, and I just let them go.
I don't think anyone in this thread has really hinted that making their MINI louder makes it faster - it was purely a question posed on behalf of an MCS owner who wants more under the bonnet sound than stock.
