Drivetrain 11 second MINI S
well there is a MINI Cooper S that presently runs 13.0's and he has 75 shot of nitrous, Shrick Cam, Header, Exhuast, Alta Air filter, 15% pulley, 15 Rota slipstreams on drag radials he has run 13.9 with out nitrous. TO get into the 12 he has some more plans.

If you want to go into the 11's 0r 10 in the Quarter you are going to need some more work and at that point I am not so sure how streetable that mini would be

Getting that last little bit would be tricky and it will definately be expensive. Two companies you may want to talk with are either helix or Randy. There are also a bunch of good companies in the sponsors section.
I'd definately start talking to Eric at helix about their 19% reduction pulley. Another user on this site (Andy) has a 1/4 mile database up and it shows at least some of the mods people have.

If your talking 10's...would be major major mods and I doubt legal on the street...10 second street cars have always been the goal and there are very few that are street legal. I would think you would need at least 2 litres of engine displacement, probably even more. A 13 second Mini would be very fast in my book and a 10 seconds Mini would feel light years faster...If it could even be done...street legally mind you. If you did manage to pull it off I doubt it would be very dependable and money wise I would say it would cost in excwss of 20K to do it. If you do it...can I go for a ride?

v6 in the back, make it a rear-wheel drive? NOS, perhaps turbo?

An 11 or 10 second MINI will most likely resemble a MINI from the exterior only, as you will have to remove and replace just about every component with something else.

I don't think 10 seconds is possible in a FWD car is it? Not only would a LSD be required but new axles for sure or they'd snap! Either a turbo V-6 or V-8 would be needed someone in there if you weren't going to use NO2. Even with NO2, you would have to do every performance mod listed anywhere on this site and then some! Oh yeah - you'd also have to remove every last ounce of weight that you could. There's no way it would be street legal. I can't see why you'd want to do this, either.

there are hondas that run 10's that are front wheel drive. in fact i know Stephen papadikis (sp?) runs 8's in his honda

Oh lighten up, i'm sure he was joking.And like I tell my customers, anythings possible with enough time and money.I think a blown big block chevy and a rear wheel drive conversion with a built powerglide tranny,9 inch,and a tubbed rear would do it.

10 or 11 seconds for the 1/4 mile? I think so. How to do it safely without blowing up might be a little tougher and to do it within a certain budget also a little tougher. Does it have to be streetable? You didn't say.

It is definitely doable. Remember way back in 1988 when I think it was pontiac cam out with their quad-four project? It was a tiny little engine, less than 2 liter I think, and the horsepower was obscenely high.
But it would also be exceptionally expensive. Plan on starting by removing the engine from the car. Take it to a good race engine builder. Bore, strok, and balance it. A longer stroke and a bigger bore = more displacement.
While there, tell them to give your head the works. Biggest valves they can fit. 3 angle valve job, and polished and flow tested. Best rockers and camshaft available.
While the engine is apart, you had best harden that crankshaft. Replace the flywheel with a lightweight unit. Better rods and pistons. Race oil pump, and external oil cooler.
You're going to need to get a bigger capacity supercharger. I doubt if anyone has one manufactured yet, so it'll probably be custom. Big $$$. Or you could go turbo... again Big $$$.
Then you'll need a good intake system. And headers. Jackson racing's look like they'd be good. A large diameter straight pipe back with a good race muffler to keep the noise at an acceptable level.
OK, thats the engine. And you're already over $30k (estimate)
Now rip out EVERYTHING inside the car that isn't absolutely necessary. Interrior door pannels, carpet, plastic trim, rear seats, stereo & speakers, headliner... everything!
You're also going to need a new engine management platform. Something completely tuneable and specifically designed for racing. The timing should be adjustable from inside the car while it's idling.
The transmission will need serious re-working to handle the torque and hp the new engine will provide to it. A good LSD will be required, and probably upgraded driveshafts.
Brakes - You'll need some BIG ones. You'll be going fast, and probably want to stop well more than one or two times. So Brembo's, at least.
For sure, absolutely it can be done. But take a look at the inside of some of those 10 second cars. they're pretty sparse inside.
If you're going to do it, don't expect a car that you can, or even want to drive everyday. Wouldn't be streetable without a dot exhaust system anyways.
But if you want to do it, you'll need a really big wallet and a really big garage. But hell, Mini themselves would probably get behind you with a big sponsorship. Go for it! Kick some ***!
