Drivetrain More Burble please!
I have a fair amount of burble and I have been tuned by Jan twice and going in for a 3rd tune April 7th.
JAN has done nothing wrong in tuning my car I have just been adding to many mods to my car and he has been pulling my Mods together with his tune magic.
Head, Cam, Header, Milltek, and now a Meth Kit.
Yeah Modding is like dinking and the burble is just a burp of power.

On my '05 R52S, I went to custom exhaust way. Here is the spec: Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonator 18"x2.5" + 2 Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators (as rear mufflers) 10"x2". Stock manifold (and cat).
It was so loud, pop and burble. I did some modifications to that system since that time.

So, for a pre-2005 R53, I think the free-flow mufflers is the best way to get more pop and burble.

Ooo FLAMES! sign me up
Once I threaded a sparkplug into an O2 bung in my old AMC and wired it to a coil on a switch.
The flames where about 3 feet out the side of the car. Are yours anything like that Checkmate?

I have an April 04 build MCS. Did the full JCW upgrade in 2006 incl the bigger injectors and CAI. Snap, crackle, pop, burble nowhere close to 05/06 models. Nice sounding exhaust but would also like more of the 'fun' noises. Also not as easy to provoke popping on the overrun. Did see in the JCW instructions that it calls out different JCW map numbers for pre and post facelift, ECU changed as part of the facelift so I it seems the newer map does not work on the old ECU = cannot get same noises on 04. Checked on the diagnostic system at dealer and correct map has been flashed for my model year. Anybody feel free to correct me, that is how I understand it.
Also - gives more noises when running without aircon, maybe the aircon compressor acts as a brake not allowing revs to drop quickly enough on overrun? The quest for noise continues...

Same here, it went from a burble to a loud anoying backfire with the straight exahust. When I put the RMW shorty on it didnt get any worse but, it didnt get any better either. I guess thats what I get for turning it into a car thats primary focus is on TRACK performance.
Well, did the one-ball today. Loving the tone! Didn't really give more burble though - made it a little louder; burble is snappier and has more pop and less of a low rumble (like thunder).
It was worth it. Might delete the pre-cat in the future unless I can find a good deal on a s.s. header.
Also, might swap out o.e. muffler for aftermarket - maybe a borla or magnaflow muffler. But that will be later.
In the future, will for sure get the JCW 380's and the JCW flash. After the pulley of course!

Now to save up and wait for spring
You want burble and an increase in power? Slap a decent aftermarket exhaust on your MCS and you can have your burble and eat it too!!! I love the sound of the Invidia catback on my MCS...
Yeah, the invidia is the one I've really been looking at getting.
However, I went with the one-ball. For now...I like it for what it is.
I just cannot justify $600 for sound & a few hps right now when there are other mods I want i.e., pulley. Plus, I need new tires.
However, in a year or two, Invidia
Thanks for the reply.
other then the fact that you have to weld it on lol... try the tsudo exhaust.. its uses the same mufflers as the Invidia one... its basically the same thing but with out the titanium tips

Honestly I would of been very disappointed putting the invidia on if my one ball wasn't rusted out spending all that money on a catback.
Its heavier than the one ball, couldn't feel any power difference, burble was quieter, and there was more drone at highway speed.
Other than that it looks awesome and sounds great
