You CERTAINALLY DON'T want to do it "later"---- you should put "lockers on those header bolts also---should be able to reuse all your existing (ex header) but figure you're GONNA have a bit OVER 2 bills just w/this----though NOW is the time !!There are better & worse brands---I wouldn't sweat it (no alta)

Personaly, I would invest in the suspension, then you skills....then when you know how to use even more power, do the header!!
If you do the header...be prepared...installs are not all trouble free...many throw codes...from the motor running lean, or having poor quality/no catalyatic converter...so you may need to buy an o2 similator to make the car run code free, and right....even with a tune....
I would talk to a vendor and see what product they like to use....a little bit more $ might save you tons of problems later!!

Headers are simple bolt-on. Why would they throw a CEL? They connect to your stock catpipe, theres the pre-cat sensor location on the header and a post cat sensor after the catpipe am I wrong?

Why else would they make the motor run lean? Im not getting a trackpipe and header, just the header to replace my stock one.

Im buying performance parts now and suspension later because Jan from RMW is coming to my area on april 25th and I want to get a tune from him, and I want to get all my parts before the tune so i dont need a retune.

And i already have colder plugs Fishhead, they came with the pulley kit. Im not doing a head, im doing headers. I hope you didnt mix those up cause a head costs like 2000$ and headers cost like 200$

they dont connect to the stock cat pipe they are one piece with the cat built in so if you put in a obx one youll likely lose the cat unless they now come with them built in...just remember you get what you pay for...if the cat isnt exactly right for the o2 sensor it will throw codes...this is a problem even the high dollar ones have had issues with...if you really want an exhaust try to find a used one if need be...there are just some things that you have to come to terms with and bite the bullet on

Oh damn I could swear i read somewhere that the OEM catpipe/headers are separated by a flange. I guess im not gonna get a header. Ill just look for intake and exhaust.

I have been searching for exhausts for ages though and nobodys selling them. at least not on NAM.

Any other big MINI forums out there with good classified sections?

You'll never get OVER the "wall" by bangin your head into it---------Y.B.R IS 110% RIGHT. IF all you want is "instant gratification"--- buy a sprint booster the $$ is about the same, it'll take you 5 minutes and YEEHAW then get back in line & take your lickins----sounds like there WILL be many. Become a Blues Fan & MOTOR ON !!

are you high?

Im not looking for instant gratification, im looking to get all the parts neccessary before i get my car tuned. because tuning isnt cheap.

The OE header is very underated. The OBX is a lot of work for little gain, you also lose the cat. IMHO, it makes for more unwanted cabin noise than performance. I'm running OE w/Cosworth head & 380s - Invidia cat back.

FYI - the Sprint Booster is worthwhile. 3 of the best, most respected, contributers on this forum use it. You can do a search.... I have 1 & it does what it says, even on top of a tune.

A 19mm rear bar is all you need, DD, if your car has the sport suspension - it's the iceing on the cake.

Nothing wrong with the Blues, I'm a fan.

Sprint Booster is a throttle re-mapper. It changes the function of pedal angle to throttle body angle, nothing more. It makes the car "feel" faster at light throttle because it's opening the throttle more aggressively at low pedal angles. You can actually do this yourself by...stepping on the throttle harder.

Just trying to be clear that that device does NOT add horsepower to the car.

You don't lose the cat with a OBX header.
Header comes with a flange to adapt to your stock cat. Any competent exhaust shop should be able to weld this.
