Email'd Morristown about that jcw kit. Now i have a little question. The kit claims to make 189 hp, and supposedly jcw's from the factory make 208. So if those numbers are true, then what is the difference? Care to elaborate anyone? Thanks

Oh yeah, the stock exhaust sounds so good too! I kept the downpipe on though. Everything is a peace again. People will sleep easier as i drive through my parking garage located under their apartments!

19 HP?

Seriously, I'm not sure what your question is. The JCW makes 19HP more, what is the question?

stage 1 and factory Jcw are 2 very different animals. If you want the performance of a factory Jcw you need to get a tune by RMW

Mark,
what i was asking was, is the JCW tuning kit for MCS's the same or different (powerwise) than a full fledged JCW ordered from MINI.

I was thinking that the kit included the hybrid turbo from the JCW. I was wrong. Looks like i need to roam the junkyard and the internet for a wrecked JCW or, get dressed up in all black and make a late night stop by JamesHunt's house and "acquire" one

I'm going to get the RMW tune, i'm on the list for the remote tuner. I want 250+ wtq too, and i doubt that will happen with a k03.

I hope eventually we'll know (for sure) how much boost this motor can take and start seeing some 300+ whp R56s...imagine that

Yep, the Factory JCW is quite a bit more than a Stage I. (ie. bigger pistons, bigger turbo, etc, etc)

I'm just messin around.

I've been thinking today and i'm going to trade my mcs in for a jcw when i get back to the states. I've almost got this thing paid off anyway. Where'd you get your JCW from James? I'm going to get a better deal than you did.

Good Luck, that was a hell of a deal. But I guess when you own dealerships, you can get the good deals.

I paid 31K for mine.

Man, I would love to have a JCW but they are just too expansive :(
May you should wait till 2011. I heard they are coming out with an AWD MSC

They know I'm razzing, although I would like to see another run at the dyno in the next few weeks.

Just to compare my own numbers off the same dyno. Best HP number was made on a cold Feb. day, max TQ number was made on a hot Aug. day with Jan's tune.

So back to the OP.

Work on suspension, better tires and lighter wheels then driving skills.

Get a pleasing to you cat-back, something good on intake (DOS or DDM Race), then a tune option, name your own poison.

Sold the above and just bought a 09 MCS. My last car was AWD and tons of aftermarket parts. I hope I made the right choice and would love to match the power my WRX put out.

Driving home in the new MCS I was kinda shocked on how it isnt as fast as I expected. Yes I test drove them but I just thought it would be a tad quicker, hwy, open roads. My wheels dont grip like the suby and I know MC are all about handling so that was shocking. In the suby world off the shelf maps could be loaded via OBDII scanner, bigger turbos could be added, etc. I bought this car with some searching but I was hoping for bigger turbos, ecu remapping galore, injectors, meth injection, etc to be out here...but not so much.

Is RMW that good? Will there be better on the fly ECU mapping avail?

Garrett turbo!!! Thats a name I was hoping to hear after switching worlds.

Marks numbers look great! But Im hoping I can get the same in an MCS??? I had no idea JCW had better compression ratio/pistons. I just thought it was tuning, exhaust, intake.

Sorry my first post is a hijack, but seems like theres some knowledge above and I'm looking to mod

Adam,

No problem, welcome to the forum. I'll tell you this now. You can't compare a Subie to a mini. You can produce decent power from the mini but it's still no subie. The handling will be if not better, defintely more fun to drive. The mini is a fun car to drive but with a little bit of torque added, it's REALLY FUN.

As yo've probably found out already, the two best choices are a factory tune. (JCW Stage I kit... good for 189 HP) or a tune from RMW which is good for another 20-30'ish HP.

Take the mini to the track and you'll find out just how fun they are.

Mark

(I can't remember the exact gains on an MCS)

I think its important to note, that the ceiling of power that the MCS/JCW is still not yet been determined. So we're all playing the waiting game to see, where, exactly it may be.

I have seen the head and would guess 300-350 whp.

The head and the fact that the block is opendeck will limit the power.

300-350 whp would be so amazing in such a light weight package such as this. I'm excited to think about what the future may bring. Motor on fellas!!!
