It seems that it would be helpful to know how long you've been driving, what types of vehicles have you driven extensively, and what your driving style is. How much observation have you done at local performance events and how many drivers have you talked with on the way to selecting the modificaitons which will best serve your wants and needs.

Its all to possible to spend $4000 only to find that you have created an undrivable vehicle, or at least one which is not pleasant to drive on a daily basis.

But you're in the right place -- many of the guys with the knowledge are here.

$960 with freeshipping Eibach Pro Street S coilovers(all you will ever need on a streetcar)
$240+shipping Hotchkis rear lower control arms(the best for the money)
$240+shipping alta endlinks front and rear(try to buy when on sale at alta)
$99 with freeshipping Eibach 19 mm rear swaybar(unless you upgrade the front bar a 19mm is all you need)
$385+shipping Defenders of speed CAI and precut bulkhead(sounds race and makes power unlike most others)
$430+shipping Nm Engineering hot and cold side hard pipe, hoses (do not add power just eyecandy, spend the money on tires)
$160+shipping Alta Boostgauge (try to buy on sale at alta ,cheap, works, easy install, easy to read at a glance)
$200+shipping Brake pads (everyone has their own favourite)
_______________
$2714 Plus shipping and labour

That would leave you $1286 to buy some 17X 7.5 SSR type c Forged wheels that weigh 14lbs each (199.00 per wheel) and tpms sensors from tirerack(look at chevy cobalt to find the wheels) and a 12.5 mm stud conversion kit from texas speedworks.

Then save cash for tires, and turbo upgrade.

If you want a large amount of boost you are going to have to upgrade the turbo to either a K03/K04 (JCW has a K03) or something similar and put in lower compression pistons (MCS is 10.5:1....JCW is 10.1:1). At that point you might as well upgrade all of the internals before you blow something up. It gets expensive real quick.

My recommendation; don't go for huge power. You're running a MINI, not a Mustang or a Corvette. Straight lines aren't our department. Go for some decent power upgrade without going nuts and if you're going to dump a lot of money into something, make it the suspension, lightweight wheels, brakes, and whatnot.
Both the Cooper S and the JCW run KO3 turbos. The JCW has a slightly larger compressor wheel on it than the S. There is no such thing as a K02.

You can run 17 psi across the rev range flawlessly. I occasionally see 18+ when doing pulls on the highway.

I was under the impression that the JCW was a K03 in the housing for a K02. Interesting to learn, thanks

Do Brakes and Suspension first then do the power adders
Couldn't have said it better myself ha ha ha! You can't go wrong with Milltek, Helix, NM, DDMWorks, and tunes from Mynes & RMW.

Companies that do braking and suspension components for MINI is a whole 'nother can 'o' worms.

As far as the gauge goes I would have to agree go with the ScangaugeII you can find them on sale plus its more than just your boost gauge, temp, air, mpg, and etc. If you want a true CAI them I would go with DDM, more money but worth it. There are a few exhaust out that are good but what ever you do DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT!!!!!!!! go with Riss Racing for the exhaust. Might put out good power but EXTREMELY loud and to the point of sounding bad and annoying! Suspension is up to you on how much you want to spend and what you intend on doing with the car. Coil overs are nice but shocks are better for track. wait on the tires and wheels and save for them if you still have a lot of life in your tires now.

v-maxx coilovers and 4x4 profile tires tend to make anything handle worse than stock.

I hang the dogs and burgers off the bumper of the Jcw ,2 laps for rare,3 laps for medium and 4 laps for welldone .

On a justacooper or a Cooper S cooking may take longer

Well, there reason I was thinking about the NM CAI is because they included the Turbo Inlet Tube while the DOS don't. If I do get the DOS then what Turbo Inlet TUbe I should get then. I really don't want to use the JCW pipe. It's ugly as hell.

NM IS A HOT AIR INTAKE AND CARBONFIBER DOES NOT ADD HORSEPOWER.

USE THE STOCK INTAKE TUBE WITH A DOS! INTAKE TUBES DO NOT ADD HORSEPOWER !

If you want bling and to waste money with zero peformance gain buy what you want.If you want to go fast without wasting money listen to people who have been there and done that .

Riss catless or obx downpipe with milltek exhaust would be my budget choice

akrapovic downpipe and catback if budget is unlimited

Yeah I don't need to search the forums about them. I'm anti on them. Helped put J'09s on his and we we're both let down on the quality and the sound, not to mention the time to get them was around a 7-8 month wait. If you believe loud pipes saves lives then it would be the best one for you. But that usually goes hand in hand on a motorcycle not a Mini.
