Overboost or what!?

I just recently installed a Alta CAI and everytime car hits redline the DSC light comes on and stays on until the car is restarted. Im currently running a 15%, 2% crank, Alta CAI, NGK iridiums (1 step colder plugs). Any info would be great! Thanks!

Sounds like you're hitting 18psi of boost. I think that's when the DSC light comes on.

Do have any idea what the solve is for this? ECU tune.. or something else.. Im currently waiting on JCW 380cc injectors and for Jan to come over to the east coast (NY/NJ area) for a tune but not sure if this will cure my problem, but I would love to just get my injectors and a JCW tune to hold me off until Jan comes if this will fix it. Im not totally sure what shops around NYC area besides the dealer would offer the JCW tune.

Actually, there is a code for overboost as well. I'm pretty sure if you were overboosting, you'd go straight into limp mode. I might be wrong. You're probably in the same boat as me. I have almost the same setup as you and at WOT, my boost gauge reads 17 PSI of boost. I'm havng problems of misfires and manifold absolute pressure faults. Try resetting your ECU and see what that does.

It has nothing to do with the boost, that doesn't cause the DSC light. It would cause a check engine light for an overboost code. And with a 15% and 2% you shouldn't be overboosting. Try driving the car with the DSC off and see if you are still getting the code. That would be step one, then if you are you should get it read by someone with a BMW computer, cause it could be caused by 100 different things.

Also check the right front wheel spend sensor wire, if you just put on a crank pulley it could be damaged.

Also FYI, We have injectors in stock and you would have them in a couple days.

+1. This exactly happaned to me as well 2 months ago when I tracked my car, under daily drive, everything seems normal.

Erm...I was getting this often with my JCW s/c and +3% crank. On German autobahns, WOT and 5th gear close to readline...so yes, it does light the DSC (which stays on until you restart the engine).

Did not have a Scangauge back then, but never had the check engine light on so I suppose it did not throw any codes. But this started to happen right after installing the +3% crank.

Solution? I bought a BVH (and lost some boost in the process by removing the restrictions).

Bottom line: I would not worry about it (as long as you don't get check engine light and the car does not throw any codes)

Sorry to add to an older topic but i just wanted to say that i have a cold air, catback and a 17% pulley installed. and my peak boost on my prosport gauge reads 20 psi. I get the DSC problem, and the absolute manifold pressure code thrown. After i turn it off once, the DSC light goes off, 3 times and the check engine light will go off. No problems have came up yet. Not sure if its fixable without lowering boost.

I cant belive im running 20 pounds at redline and its probably not healthy but i checked all my gauge connections and their fine.

Just to let you guys know.. I had similar problem and ended up being catalytic gone bad. So I would recommend checking it out before you start buying parts for nothing. I sent car to 2 BMW techs and they both told me that my mods where causing over boost problem. When I talked to JAN he told me check the cat and sure enough the cat had gone bad. Once your car gets bad enough it will go into limp mode.
