Adjusting Bypass Valve

I've been searching for a solution to my sluggish MCS and have come across bypass valve issues. I am wondering if there is a way to adjust the BPV without having to remove, perhaps a simple tightening of a screw somewhere? The idea of tearing apart my car is not one that exites me at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreiated.

If the bypass valve is having issues, that means the spring is probably in need of some stretching out. That does mean that the valve will have to come out, in order to get at the spring.

I've seen the work done before, and it's involved, but for a capable mechanic, it's fine. If you do decide to have the valve removed in order to check the spring, I'd suggest having the entire thing replaced with a Detroit Tuned Bypass valve.

That's just my opinion though. Hope it helps.

I think it's theoretically possible to adjust the valve on the car...

but you don't want to to it. You can't see the gaps around the butterly. If you do think it's the valve, you can just wiretie it shut. If you get your power back, then you know it's the issue. But there's a lot more that can go wrong with a by pass valve than just the stop. Spring issues, diaphram and shaft issues can all contribute to problems.

It's not that hard a job, just takes a bit of time to do.

Only $125 and if you install incorrectly MCS will let you know via code.

Thanks for the replies. Is it possible to wiretie it bak without removing it? I would definately like to make sure that is the issue via the method of least resistance. Thanks again.

I tied my 06 BPV closed for a test, it immediately turned on the CEL, didn't see any dif, so guessing my BPV is fine, untied and CEL cleared itself soon after.

Get a new one, I replaced my old BPV with an OEM unit and it was like having a new engine in my car. My mech charged me around $200 for everything. If you have the cash do it.
