They have since stopped that though. Try checking on www.dynamicminicollective.org and you'll find plenty of members that would probably do it for you.
in your garage
its not a very complicated job. Its one of the firs things i ever did to a car (i did the cold air intake, then a detroit tuned bypass valve, and then a few months later the pulley). Just follow the instructions they give you (assuming you have a service jack, and i did the job with 1 service jack, but if you use only 1 your probably gonna need an extra pair of hands to get the engine back in) and i did it in 4 hours (by myself except fo rgetting the engine back on one of its mounts, and i was only 17 when i did it btw) . wow, that was really jumbled, sorry im ADD.

ok so i called a place in mesa called Autobahn Autosport and the guy there named Hanz says its 298 and up to install a supercharger pulley because its 3-4 hour job. does this sound reasonable?? ive heard lots of other people installing it in 1-2 hours. he also spoke of going through the wheel well and the instructions say to jack the engine up. hmmmmm
From the sounds of things it doesn't sound like that shop has done it before, or at least done it enough times. I'd wait to find someone experienced. I just had a shop that screwed up a supercharger. They claimed they had done them before, but come to find out they had done 1 before. Now the customer hasn't had his car for over a month waiting on the shop to replace the entire supercharger. $300 is a very fair price especially if someone is experienced.
I talked to one of my guys in AZ today, and he's going to see who he can hook us up with.

Just curious, do you not find yourself very mechanically inclined? lack the time? or lack the tools to do this job? (besides the puller, you can rent it easily enough. get the half circle one from Detroit tuned, with that one you don't have to completely remove the tensioner)
because if the answer is no to all of those, i seriously suggest you do it yourself. Or even find a shop that will let you come in and do it on a weekend for a small fee. I found installing mine kind of like a small adventure, and actually gained great joy from doing the install, and personally being able to say, "yeah, i did that" makes owning the part just that much more sweet.

try Goodspeed Performance Lab in Tempe...
They are good guys and certainly know their stuff...not a MINI specific shop, but they've done plenty.

And you can take a run on their Maha dyno....its a very slick machine.

mainly time and fear lol. i am a helicopter mechanic so i would consider myself very mechanically inclined im just afraid of screwing something up and have to replace something else. a friend who builds race cars might help me out with this project on the weekend sometime but i will give this Goodspeed place a call to see how much they quote. i just want everything done right
just got off the phone with Goodspeed Perf. guy told me 150$ for the install so i think im going there. ive seen pullers go for almost that much. plus it will save me 2-4 hours maybe longer of cursing up and down the driveway scaring the neighbors
Good, the owner Jon is a real good guy. He used to work at Dyno Comp, but has left and opened his own shop, Goodspeed.
