lowering and wheels

Will I be able to lower my R56 if I mount 18x7.5 wheels? I'm looking to use lowering springs to lower it about a 1 inch or so. Can this be done with out any rubbing issues?
Thanks

Just to let you know wrong section. But to answer your question yes but you might want to invest in 5 to 10mm spacers just to help.

Yes as long as the offset is right you wont have any issues with 18 X 7.5

Damn that would for sure call for spacers and would look just ridiculous cause they would stick so far out.

I'm running 18x7.5, 45 offset with the TSW lowering springs. Tires are 215-40-18. No problems at all. I could even go lower...

Generally speaking your tire diameter does not change much with wheel size, so lowering does not effect the what diameter of wheel you choose. Go to:

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos

Your can enter and compare different tire sizes and wheel sizes and compare the diameter. I think the rule is, you should stay within 3% of stock.

In simple terms as the wheel size get larger the sidewall size gets smaller.

Big wheels generally mean rougher ride as there is not as much cushion between you and the road. Big wheels and tire combination are usually heavier that smaller wheel tire combination's. This means a loss of performance and worse gas mileage in many cases.

Search the tires, wheels and brakes section for better information.

17x7.5 with 225 or 235 is about the biggest you want to go unless you are tracking it like a fiend then go wider not larger.

You can't really make broad statements like that without the offset. A 17x7.5 et60 would need spacers while a 17x7.5 et35 wouldn't. It all depends on the offset of the wheel.

Yes you can!

Offset is critical. But I am even using 5mm spacers and I have some new photos coming soon that have 10mm on the rear and the tire completely tucked.

Let me know if I can help with fitment concerns, or anyway I can!

No problem at all! (assuming the offset is correct) What wheel did you end up choosing? Then we can check it out for you!

Something like +40. But it'll rub.

My experience...

I think you will be fine --

I have NM springs from:
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...n_springs.html

They have been very good and lower the same amount 1.2" and I run the same tire.

If I where doing it again I would pay more attention to the weight of the wheels and tires.
