Drivetrain Dinan parts for the Mini
I talked to a Sales Rep at Dinan Engineering's HQ on Friday. He said that they will be doing a full line of parts for the Cooper and Cooper S. Steve Dinan personally drives a Cooper S and they bought a Cooper for development.
It will be quite a while before any new parts arrive though. They are still in the process of doing the engineering and computer work. So, don't plan on seeing anything from Dinan for you Mini before next year. When they do arrive, they will be the same high quality you expect from their BMW parts.

The service manager for Mini of Nashville where I got my Red/Red S said basically the same thing. I asked him about adding a few performance upgrades like cold air and exhaust along with super chip. He said that Dinan had already begun work on all these and more, but it would be probably at least Jan. before they will be available. I am still getting thru the longest 1200 miles of my life, only about 650 miles and it's raining like crazy today. I am trying to look on the bright side. In a week or so I will finally be able to "let the dog eat" and get past 4K, by april or so next year I will be ready to upgrade so the timing is going to be good. I will probably need that much time to convince my wife of why the S need to be even quicker.
MINI of Nashville is allready taking orders for the Dinan Stage1 kit, which they have installed on John Monk's car....
Nice kit, but I'm not too blown away by the specs of it.
Exhaust, air box, software update, engine sway bar, badges, and floor mats make up the kit. Costs a little over $2100 and you get a whopping 19 horsepower increase. Cheaper than the Works kit for sure, but a lot of cash to spend on 19hp. I've emailed John asking for more details, owner's report, etc... so far he says he loves it, possibly a little less "oomph" than my works kit but then it's half the price....
Sounds decent too, I heard it rev up at the MINI Homecoming last weekend.
Not that much louder than stock but much more racer, a tad raspy but not like a coffee can ricer exhaust.
The Dinan rep told me that it has full warranty on all parts from Dinan, but that work has to be done by a Dinan service center - unsure as to whether all MINI dealers will be Dinan authorized or not, might cause big warranty issues down the road if that's the case.
I have a few pics of it up in the gallery at the MINICC website.
