Truck-stop hooker now that's one for the Master Card commercial. I got to use that one in the future.
[*]15% Reduction Puller - $400.00[*]ECU Reprogramming - $650.00[*]Alta Air Filter & Intake - $199.50[*]Treated like a truck-stop hooker - Priceless

But, on a serious note ... how early in an MCS life should you install a reduction pulley. Should one wait until the engine is broken-in???

Cheers

I read somewhere that possibly even more important than staying below 4,500 rpm is avoiding extending full throttle blasts at any speed. It was stated that allowing the rings to get properly seated was one of key points of breaking in the motor. If the rings don't get a chance to properly marry the cylinder walls, oil consumption will be effected for the life of the vehicle as well as exhaust emissions.

So my un-informed opinion would be certainly to wait beyond the recommended break in period of 1,200 miles.

All, I just got the Madness pulley and puller kit for ~$250. The only thing I was waiting on was a puller. No one could spare one for a weekend because they are all so busy installing these things!

NOW I KNOW WHY! Damn finally some grunt at low RPM and my MCS HUSTLES! I will tell everyone that it took two guys <2 hours doign this mod and we doublechecked EVERYTHING! The only scarry part was when jacking my coil trigger wire got REAL CLOSE to the coolant resevoir. Still very easy mod, and with the included puller and alignment tool this is a no brainer.

If you are waiting to do the pulley, don't it's too sweet.

Pulley installed at delivery :)

Um, I had Schomp put the 15% pulley on my 05 MCS before I took it home.
The Promini cold air intake followed at about 600mi on the odomoter.

Why wait?

I think that when those guys were discussing it (2003), they didn't have nearly as much information as they (and we) do now.

Don't agree here.

So for me, 5-10k on your MINI, maybe with other mods done first like maybe intake and exhaust before you add the pulley. Just to make sure it SEEMS to be in good shape from the factory and you're not going to get screwed for some huge repair that is not your fault. I believe that is really the only reason to consider waiting a bit.

I waited 11k miles but for me that's quick. It didn't even take me 5 months!
You want to know the highest milage on a pullied car? Ask it differently. What's the highest milage JCW car. Mini would have a hell of a time triing to say that the pully blew the car when the works car comes with about a 15% on it from the factory!

I've got 55k+ on my car, and I think the pully went on at about 45k or so....

I just waited because I do a lot of the work on my car, but didn't do this one and the labor isn't cheap!

If JCW is being considered I now have 93K miles and had JCW install @18K that makes it 75K miles with a pully.
