Tuning Party in Houston

Thinking of arranging a tuning party with RMW or Mynes. Anybody interested? Preference?

Mynes needs 8-10 cars to come to Houston and RMW needs 10 cars.

1. MINIotaple (R53)
2. AChandler (metroplexmini - R50)
3. mini_racer (R53)
4. Chase (R53)
5. btwdriver (R56)
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

As in...they would come to Houston and dyno tune somewhere for a day?

Given that BHS is gone, do you have a place in mind that would let you rent their dyno facility for a reasonable price?

Didn't want to start looking until I found enough interest - I seriously doubt it'll be that expensive. If HBS was having issues and they were the premier BMW shop, I doubt we won't find one for a reasonable rate.

You might want to check with Mynes first to see if they prefer a particular type of dyno. Depending on what they need, it may or may not be easy to find. I believe that was an issue last year when some people were trying to arrange a similar event in Houston with Jan (RMW).

From Mynes: Dyno preference: Mustang, DynoJet (with Eddy Current), Dyno Dynamic, Dynapak...

I've e-mailed Jan about his preference too, but I remember the dyno issue with Jan as well

Hey guys, the easiest way to locate a dyno in your vicinity is thru the Mfg's website... here's the one for the Mustang Dyno:

http://www.mustangdyne.com/locator.htm

Houston is a BIG city... by securing the dyno first, it makes it easier for everyone who plans to attend for those who need to make travel arrangements :D Cheers...

Hey gang, as much as I'd like to participate, I've got other mods I need to make before spending several hundred bucks on this.

Have a great time!

it doesn't seem there's enough interest in the area to get to the minimum number of people...

I got my GIAC tune right after my 19% pulley, so I'd say a tune is worth it. I'd probably say equivalent the the pulley mod itself, but that's just imo.

If this actually looks like it'll happen, I'll be getting the head and cam...

I'm confused by what you're asking. The tuning would consist of changing parameters to the stock ecu to operate in better with your mods.

I thought I might need a piggy back ECU or some thing like that.

Just remember... tunes = approximately 20hp worth of delta... when done at the dyno with adjustments done!

Lots of people seem to have similar results... much better improvement then a $600-1000 exhaust to give you... what... 1-3hp on a sub-250hp Mini???

From what I've read, piggyback ECUs don't work too well b/c the computer learns to work around it.
