Until a SC Mini really beats the Turbo Mini in drag or track...the bottom line is who won? Let the REAL racers answer that question and not the benchracers.

Extremely disappointed after reading the thread title .. damn you...

But I can help with #6. I also have the Quaife and if you have the funds for one, I definately recomend it. It's prolly the best mod I have done to my car so far. Second would prolly be the light weight flywheel

What is your goal? If you dont have a plan, or at least a target point you can expect to spend a lot more money than you need to.

plan... be different, smoke m3 and have a z06 worried, lol... money, motor wise up to 4-6k in cash... research ive done it, but not quite sure which is most efficient for the buck, seems rebuilding the motor with bigger pistons n slapping the turbo(single) would be cheapest, considering good heads go from 1k-3k... quaife, understandable... thought so wasnt really sure if theres better reviews on cusco, etc.

Your thread title disappoints me as well, I was expecting pics and some video of a T-only GP

I think he needs to talk to Dr. Fuh not on here to get an idea of what he should really do and then post the project as "WAM a T-only GP 1 of 1 in the US"

depending on which part of the thread you are looking at...

if it is the title it is pretty obvious what he had in mind. If you read the first post of the thread then it is less obvious. There is no need to get testy. You benefit in no way by trying to push the OP in a particular direction, so why not try to help him out with what he is trying to do instead.

Based on what you said, a turbo would get you where you want without much effort. You could skip building out the engine too if you arent going to run a whole lot of boost. Dr. Fuh is the guy to go to for that. I know his systems can make close to 300 peak horsepower without much effort.

Alternatively you could call Jan and ask him about his TVS superchargers. That said what that system is capable of has yet to be made public (if it has been feel free to correct). As it stands I think he also only has it as an add on for his stroker motor currently (again feel free to correct).

I can read just fine. English, can you write it? Properly, that is...

From the OP
Title - Turbo
Supercharger - "replace and with what" - this one could go either way, but since there's no good replacement for the stock 1.6L at the moment, well, yeah...
Or maybe turbo it - "perfect setup for that" - seems like he's given this route more thought than supercharging, don't you think?

Also mentions being different (read: turbo, supercharger is hardly different) and single turbo as the more efficient route (money wise)

Do you still think he's not so sure? He knows, he just hasn't fully come to terms with it yet.

Some Guy, I didn't get testy, ybr did because he thinks I somehow attacked his savior, Jan. Which I didn't, so let's not go down that route... And you are correct, no TVS on the stock 1.6L yet and no numbers for that have been posted.

Well, if you are planning on spending a large amount of money (11k range), and only want to worry about doing it once, then turbo-only will be your best route.

It's reliable (if it's done correctly by pro's), has plenty of power potential (can be tuned and toyed with to suit your needs/wants, and more power can be cost efficiently made in the future as compared to other options), and is still relatively unique as not that many have it done.

A properly setup turbo conversion will run you more in the 15k-22k range.

My engine blew last weekend...

However, unfortunately almost every vendor I've talked to this past week has recommended me to stick with more reliable power by getting a RMW head, cam, full exhaust, and tune and be satisfied with 250ish whp. They basically flat out told me not to go twin-charged or turbo only unless you have a whole lot of money and time to fool around with.

After making several phone calls and having some relatively long conversations with some of the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the Mini world, today I got an 18-25k estimate for a used long block with a complete rebuild with fully forged internals, GT3071 turbo, custom turbo manifold, clutch/flywheel, built transmission w/ straight cut gears and taller ratios, necessary interior gauges, and proper tuning.

My pockets aren't that deep, and even if they were, that's still a big effin waste of money. Right now you can buy a super sleek 2006 Viper Hennessey 600hp GTS with an additional 225 hp shot of nitrous making 825 rwhp for around 60 grand on Ebay. I don't care if you had a 1000 hp Mini, I would still rather pick any chick in the Viper. - Actually, any chick would rather want to pick me up in the Viper .

I currently have 15%2%pulley, unichip, alta intake, schrick shaft... lets say i stick with the supercharger, get it ported n polished, do the heads(still what klind? seems you all support rmv), intercooler(m7), header(alta? i was thinking but seems theres better choices), exhaust(alta? im gonna try n see if gthaus can build me one, but if not, whats recommended?), thats gonna push 250 at the wheels? and you guys seem to love rmv... is it really the best? what about the cosworth head? i mean the name speaks for it self! or jesus? outmotoring? detroit?..... give me reasons as to why rmv over other companies... and wtf is in that box from rmv!!!!! maybe i should get that instead!!?!?!?!?!?!

This should be good.

For the LSD I'd go with O.S. Giken or Cusco. True they require more maintenance, but it's not excessive...But if you're really that lazy then the Quaife will do just fine.

As far as "being different" goes...
