Drivetrain Header question...
Header question...
Ok, so, ive been looking at buying an exhaust header or having one custom made (i have a connection
). I have noticed that the big names ie. RMW, Alta, Milltek, Borla, etc. use a 4-1 design whereas people like OBX(...), Supersprint, Ultrik, Jackson racing use a 4-2-1 design. I have grown to believe that, due to exhaust flow characteristics, a 4-2-1 would improve exhaust flow thereby improving high end power while not compromising torque...
Am i mistaken?
Surely the big names would need to utilize this, if it were so, otherwise their products would not be nearly as successful as they are.
Can someone please enlighten me
And maybe give me your opinion on headers

actually the 4-1 is a better design for top end...a 4-2-1 is more for low end but it looks like u have a 04 with the longer geared trans? if so the 4-1 will help u more up top when the 4-2-1 has give all it could
i have the RMW header and it hasnt failed to impress...it gained some real power over stock

Just stick with OEM design of 4 to 1. I'd suggest Megamynes Headers due to its 2 piece design, it has the ability to replace cat. with straight pipe (for racing purposes) and easy replacement of the cat. after its service life. I guess it will be easier to install too.

You are something else.
What is your problem? Have you EVER played will with others?
To the OP, I have only had one aftermarket header. I have the RMW shorty header. I noticed a nice improvement in power. It is a beautiful piece. There are some issues with it that are being remedied.
Do your research, ANYthing will be an improvement over the restricted stock header

Just my 0.02, but I had a Megan which worked, but the flex joint went bad and so I got the CMC from Juston (badhogan). The CMC is ceramic coated inside and out, a 4-2-1 design with 1-3, 2-4 cylinder pairing. It's a top dollar piece but really impressive with v-band connections, etc.
The market for headers is very good these days, with the RMW option, the Mynes option and others like the CMC if you want something a little different. You really can't go wrong. Flip a coin...

I have the RMW short and i love it.
though I'm suspect it has a leak or one of my connections do.
Anyway
Taking the cat out for track is not the best idea
i saw a series of dyno's of a supercharged car (Miata) that the car actually lost Tq because of the lack of cat.
Seems that the slight addition of back pressure helped it build more low end Tq
Honestly if your looking for a header
Search for something that meets your goals and is a quality made part.
I bought the RMW because it has the D ports like their head. (after looking so dose Mynes.) However they are missing some parts that RMW has.
Keep looking Hopefully i could help.

Ed pretty much sums up all of our features in his post:
- D-ports
- inside & outside welds (no leaks like the other brand)
- 2-piece makes it easier to install & replace cat when service life ends
- made of SS & mandrel bent
- 200 cell met. cat. converter (NO CEL and no need for CEL fixes)
- equal length primaries
- no CEL

- Mustang dyno tested
