Drivetrain Mynes Performance South FL tune!
Mynes Performance South FL tune!
I am working with Mike@Mynes to setup a dyno day to offer his tunes in May in the South Florida region. Any performance combo can be tuned on ALL types of fuels (even E85). We will need a minimum of 10 cars to get this started so please PM me (or reply to this thread) if you want to get on the list. Tuning fee is $350 per car plus dyno time which is unknown yet. Mike will require a $200 deposit to secure your spot on the list in which the remainder of $150 will be paid on the dyno day plus the dyno fee (which will be announced once a location is picked).
Location: Miami
This will also be open for anyone to come down and watch on how a tune is done as well as a get together.

Perfect I'll add you to the list, now only 6 more to ensure a tuning party.
Also, do you have a date preference?
Spread the word and see if you can have more people sign up.

hey guys, we would like to find a dyno that puts a load on the car so you guys are not paying for 'free spinning rollers." A Mustang, DynoDynamics or a DynoJet with Eddy Current.

- custom tuning is $350 per car
- 550cc injectors $300 installed
- dyno time (depends on who you get and how many people. I'll let you guys pay the dyno shop directly.
- minimum of 10 cars.
Dates that have been taken thus far:
- April 11th (El Paso - Tuning party)
- May 2nd (Southern Cal - Tuning party)
- May 29/30th (Redline Time Attack @ Willow Springs)
Events in the works but with no firm dates:
- NY Tuning party
- Orlando, FL tuning party
- Tennessee Tuning party
- Mid-Cal tuning party (Fresno area)

I'll setup the location in Miami, better for me anyways. I'll start making phone calls on Monday to figure out the dyno fees.
Going to meet up with the local MINI club on Thursday to talk over the details and see if we can make this event happen. Updated the original post with new dates and new info.
Miami is ALWAYS in club season.

FyneTune is one of my Evo customers. I just called them, their Dyno does NOT have the Eddy Current device, but they are looking to upgrade within a month or so.

Let's keep looking to see if we can find a MD :D Looks like there are two MD in that area (Active Autowerkes; Jobber's Equipment).

Active Autowerkes is the BMW tuner, I'll give them a call tomorrow but am not too sure they'll let us rent their dyno for the day.
I contacted the President of Active Autowerke about using their MD and they don't rent it out. However, he did recommend FyneTune Performance. I also contacted Champion Motorsport (Pompano) and they don't rent their dyno out either (I'm seeing if Carbonized can explore this option for us).
No luck with Jobber's Equipment either.
Lujan Motorsport - $150/hour
- Dynojet (guy I spoke to didn't know what eddy current is)
- Includes wideband
- Includes printout
- Went to a dyno day here once, didn't really like how they handled it
STP Motorsport - $500 (9:00AM-5:00PM)
- Located in Ft. Lauderdale
- Dynojet 224x (no eddy current)
- Includes wideband
- Includes printout

Eddy Current Device
here's some general reading:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddy_current
http://www.foerstergroup.com/eddy_current.html
In common terms, the eddy current device creates a 'load' on the rollers of the dyno that apply surface tension to the vehicle's driving wheels (based on a formula that calculates load dpending on the weight of the vehicle and its HP rating at a specific speed). It tries to mimic the load of 'street driving' while the car is actually riding on the dyno... this feature is desirable b/c you want the car's performance to be as close to real-life driving as possible while it's been tuned on the dyno.
I think that's not too confusing to comprehend for some :D

Try these out... these are the Dyno Dynamic dynos, and they also put a load on the car.

I'll swing by after school tomorrow as they are both right next to each other and not too far from where I live.

Mike, I drove to both of those shops today before class. South Florida Racing hasn't existed for three years now, it was replaced by another shop which doesn't have a dyno. Lopez Racing seems to be outta business too, no sign on their shop and it was closed. Called while waiting outside but didn't hear the phone ring inside the shop, just rang off the hook.
Basically have run out of options in Miami as it appears that none of the dynos here have the eddy current device. I think our best bet will be to see if FyneTune Performance upgrades their dyno with the eddy current device and we host the tuning day after.
I'll see if I can spark any interest at the local MINI meet tomorrow to come up with the remaining 6 cars.
