In my experience, the dealer has been pretty decent with bolt ons, and if they have no reason to think you have a reflash (boost gauge, other gauges, etc.), they wont be looking for it. If you have a big turbo on your car and blow up the motor somehow, thats probably not going to fly. But if you have minor mods and major issues, I don't expect this to be a problem. Honestly, people need to stop being quite so scared about doing minor mods.
Propaganda I think not, I've been heavily moding cars for years, and you have to be realistic with the fact that when you modify you are doing so in violation of your warranty. I have many friends who work for various dealerships (Audi and VW) and I can tell you 100% that a dealership takes note when you have even the simplest of bolt-ons and keeps track of it, the will void coverage on your warranty if they feel they can link it to the problem in the least. If you think thats propaganda your quite naive.

I really don't think everyone is out to get you, and I'm knowledgeable enough to know what causes what, so I can usually get things accomplished with the dealer/service manager as long as they're not total tools. Dealers may take note but good luck saying an intake or boost gauge caused your car to die. To each his own I guess.

Its not that anyones out to get you, the service manager or tech may be the greatest guys in the world, but they are carfully scrutinized by the mfg, cause thats whos paying for the repair, they would lose their jobs when push comes to shove. Any big repair and they will send out an independent investigator. I gurantee if you came in with a blown turbo and had an intake (or they have on record you did) they wouldn't cover it without a fight, they also are going to check your ECU, etc.
