Drivetrain Next step for power?
Why????
Here is one reason.
Jan sold a stock Newman to a customer who had his local "Mini" shop do the install. On start up something was wrong. No power??? They checked everything and in the end it was a screwed up grind. They called Jan (RMW) who overnighted a new cam at his cost. The next day the cam was replaced and power was made and a happy customer drove home.
How do you think this would have played out if you purchased direct???
My understanding is you can't as of now.

That car that is in question is mine, Helix installed the cam, the car would not idle properly, Helix went over the install and checked everything they could think of assuming it was not the cam. Removed the cam and replaced with the stock cam and all was well. Eric from Helix called Jan and Jan overnighted another camshaft to him. The camshaft was installed in the car and the car started and ran perfectly.
Pound sand buddy!
The story is true. Feel free to call Helix if you like.
As for putting a name on something here is a list of parts sellers who call items their own but do not in any way manufacture them.
M7 DFIC
M7 Coilovers
Alta CAI
Alta Sway Bar
Detroit Tuned Big Brake kit
DT 15% pulley
Texas Speed works Big Brake kit
Texas Speed works engine dampener
Helix rear adjustable control arms
Helix short shifter
I could do this all night from Mini Vendor to Mini vendor finding items they call theirs but really they are made by someone else.
Do any of them tell you the manufacturers name, address and web site??????????????????????
OF COURSE THEY DON'T BECOUSE THEY ARE RUNNING A BUISNESS TO MAKE MONEY.
They may have designed the product themselves, contracted out the design or just re-bagged an existing product with their name. That's how business works bud plain and simple. These guys are not investing in manufacturing equipment in the hopes of making a killing selling Mini parts!! Most barely make a decent living and have real jobs to pay the bills.
Does this make make the product bad? No
Does this mean you shouldn't buy it? No
They did the work to find it and then form a business partnership with the manufacturer to bring it to market. They also have to take calls from guys like you and answer every question and deal with every problem you might have. They also have to deal with warranty issues.
Do you get at all what I am telling you??
Oh and yes, I am a friend of Jan's so really you shouldn't believe anything coming out of my mouth. I'm just a fan boy after all.

I agree we do not physically " MAKE ' the DIFC and our suspension , but we had a lot more to say about the final outcome than ordering something out of a catalog and calling it our own. The DFIC for example was co created by a NAM member TonyB and Peter . The back round is even stranger than most " started on the back of a cocktail napkin " stories you hear. The actual first design " drawing " was in on a steam covered shower door
Many conversations after that and several visits to a leading local MFG of both auto and military inter coolers and you have the DFIC . I still have one of the prototypes kicking around in my garage somewhere. The story on the coil overs begins at SEMA 3 years ago. We sat down with the Mfg who at the time did not have a Mini product at all . We told them what we were looking for, what we had liked and disliked about the Ledas which we used to sell and asked them if they could do something for us . The first prototypes , which are still on my car , were close to perfect with the exception of the brackets being slightly incorrect. The few changes were made and our own color specified and the first production run was started .
If after hearing this anyone can still think that we did not have " any " say in the outcome of both products then I do not know what else to say. We do not use the word proprietary when the only thing of a proprietary nature is the price .Think of it this way, we don't have a $50,000 rapid prototype machine on the premises to make labels

I really like where you are getting your information.... feel free to call Oscar Jackson and get the facts...Pm me, I will give you his number I have it on speed dial. I'm sure he would tell you the truth... unlike anything else you posted below..... Oscar sold me the Rotrex charger, there was NO KIT DESIGNED FOR THE MINI....... I told him I would build one and look into selling them. We are still planning on selling them. We just got the custom part for it today.
You came to the Hartford tune with bad injectors , we tried to add enough fuel to make the car safe so you could drive the car safely. The dyno operator along with yourself were scared that your car was so lean that you would melt a piston. Kyle from Bishop Motorsports was nice enough to help you out with the maintenance. Once putting in 440cc injectors at a later date without a fuel map modification to fix the previous map that was there to protect your engine. What do you think happened? It was too rich on the tune that was on the car. This is simple cause and effect. The tune was to too rich for perfectly good "working" injectors but you didn't have "normal" flowing injectors when we did the tune. I'm sure I still have the pms somewhere where you went on and on about the crap injectors etc.
You also said you didn't have the money for another engine since you blew up the last one at the drag strip so I needed to make sure it was safe for now......
I have spent 20k with Dimsport in the past to get 2 complete systems to do remote tuning which ended up never happening. I had to go and spend more money to buy other software that would do it.
Let's take a look into history so it becomes more clear for you and anyone else who might be reading this .....
and WHERE my maps came from
1st dimsport tune of M62 cars...... 2 of them (since I was the first, where did the map come from?)
1st and ONLY to ever tune a Rotrex Mini (since no one else has one.... how did I steal the map?)
1st to tune Hubies turbo kit, 1 in Hawaii and the one that has the dyno sheet here on NAM ( still waiting to hear where I stole that one too, even Hubie was there when I tuned it.......so was Johnny.....)

1st TVS on stock ecu............ so WHO DO YOU THINK I GOT THOSE MAPS FROM? Rather shoddy attempts to discredit me
For the record I have never known Bryan before NAM.
My head was designed at Portflow, Hubies was done at M2. ( does this make Hubie a rebadger too, it seems to qualify me as one? )
Newman makes custom grinds for us too, besides their normal cam. In fact we are testing another totally new design tomorrow for track use
those are the facts...........JACK

I lol everytime you try sticking up for Jan like you guys are married. Just curious but did you guys grow up together?....Did you know each other before coming on this site?....or did you just leech onto him to get the good deals as he blew smoke up your *** and still feel the need to stick by him. It's a known fact that he doesnt know what he's doing and stole A LOT of peoples ideas and called them his own just like Emile's maps. He needed you to get his Dimsport equipment through the audio shop b/c they wouldnt deal with him direct and wanted nothing to do with him. I found that out right after his bullsh&t excuses pilled up when i was trying to get MY re-tune for alsmot a year b/c the first one was horrible. I called Dimsport to see what was up b/c he was blaming their equipment and software over n over again and they laughed at me and told me what the deal was. Lets not forgot Hubies design for the head and Oscar for the rotrex system. I guess all the venders you named above did that to, right?
As for the comment "guys like me". are you kidding me. I've done EVERYTHING on ANY car I've owned, and built pleanty cars for other people that NEVER blew up. Can you say the same? I'm def not "that guy" to back down so you barked up the wrong tree. I sat back for a long time on this site watching how people were treated and then blown off lilke they were nothing and at the sametime the person doing that to them was treated like a freaking saint. Cmon...your sweet talk doesnt work for me and 90% of the site.
This has gone way off topic which im sorry for so if you like to continue, please feel free to PM me anytime.

I agree w/ "newbs"...the obx did'nt cut it for me.I saw good gains with the shorty header swap.
I remember that tune session,Frank. All cars "low"
I'm making nice power w/stock head,stock cam,stock intercooler.
-192 hp/178tq
I eat through 1st and 2nd gear like nothin'.
I think those of us w/auto have to shoot a little lower on our "power quest".
next:I think that adding a cam is the extent of my power mod journey.
If it were me,I'd put on the rmw header/cam and do a retune!
-good luck w/whatever you do,frank!

Well...
After speaking with a few people and researching some more options, right now I'm thinking about head, cam, and retune. It seems to be the most financially feasible option that covers all of my concerns about reliability. I was driving around the other day and found myself saying,"do I really NEED 250Whp? I don't know. I think the head and cam will put me where I am more comfortable."
So we'll see. Thnaks for all the suggestions and advice everyone!

Did you read my post? I highlighted it for you. Climb down from the fence.
My point is that I can go from vendor to vendor showing products made from some one else yet it has your/their name on it. Nobody should have a problem with that ever. It's a joke to me that people even bring it up. Without you guys and rest researching and finding products for our cars what would we have?
So, I meant no disrespect to you or any other vendor. I have been manufacturing for over 25 years. I truly understand it

. My car never had a code for ANYTHING but the overboost and temp for the m7 t-stat until after i left that day and code after code came up until i removed your flash and they stopped. odd huh! I also paid you $350 for 440cc BOSCH injector and receiving Seimens injectors instead which i later found out were from a SRT4. i asked for my money back b/c you lied to me an made an excuse that you can no longer get the bosch inj. at a good price so you sent me those instead ( without even telling me ) which i later found online for $150 cheaper. I flashed back to JCW and no more codes. weird eh.
dimsport....from their mouth to my ears....you were NEVER an authorized tuner for them. buying your equipment under someone elses company name doesnt count either. Emile did your tuning before you came to the mini scene and you kept saying everything done to your cars was from you and saved all the maps as well. you used the maps on your customers cars and adjusted them were needed once you got your hands on the dimsport equipment. thats not rocket science. emile walked away from you which is the reason dimsport wont deal with you directly. am i wrong? prob not, but im sure you'll find something to turn that around.
rotrex....So oscar didnt make a kit at Spoon which you also called your own??? weird that the leading conversion company for rotrex kits still to this day doesnt support the mini in there line up. very strange!!! guess thats why there's only less than a hand full out there running it from you that make nothing for power except LB car supposely.
as for Hawaii...i remember a convo that you built a car from a customer out there and on your way to picking him up from the airport you blew his motor.
ive recvd multiple PM's about how others bought their cams directly from newmans so that came from the horses mouth. up until today, people have to go through you now after you read the thread im sure and stamped your feet at the newman's and got your way. guess everyone can thank you for paying $400 for a $300 cam huh!!! I guess using Hubie's name to secure a newman account wasnt enough huh.
its all good. keep doing your thing. more n more people will be selling their cars soon enough like PGT b/c of guys like you and going to the real tuner's and venders out there. im just glad i only spent pocket change with you unlike others who got nothing to show for it
Jan forget this guy a his 1SlowMini it is not worth your time.
For the record I do not know Jan, (except for talking to him on the phone) and I am on the other side of the country but I know his parts ar A+ as I have them on my car and I am very satisfied. I have had no problems with any of his parts below and I have also had them installed at Helix in Philly and they are also an excellent vendor.

So are you saying someone has a car, I better say MCS, with 212 WHP with only a header, cat-back and a tune? Everything else is stock?
Dont get me started dude. Just because you had a problem (and still do) does not mean everyone needs to follow you.
Look back at all your post and see how much of an a-hole you are being.
Why dont you all do us all favor and get a honda civic and JDM it all up.

No one needs to follow me? Dont get you started? Your a cheerleader on the sidelines where you should stay so sit down with your useless comments. Like i said. stupidity is blind and i guess the truth must hurt even though your not involved.
Don't worry Chili, we can cheer together.
You are totally correct. He is "one of those guys". You can't argue with a guy like this. His email above is so fare off it's like the ramblings of a crazy person. He takes second and third hand info and turns it into what ever he wants.

I know, but I'm just going by the trend my car has been showing. With the mods I have I'm only pulling 171, so I figure I should still see a gain, just not as high as theirs. I do also have an automatic, so that can skew things also.
