Well... unfortunately, no big gains for me but very nice improvements in drivability and after putting in the bigger injectors, I needed the tune to make it stop running so rich.

It started off very well with a 1st pull of 204. Of course, the car had been able to cool for a while but given I have a 15% pulley, cat-back, CAI, 400s, and colder plugs, I was pleased with that. We were ony able to add about 3 ft-lbs of torque but no HP in terms of peak power. It was a bit anti-climatic after the first pull.

But... Jan was able to smooth out the both the torque and hp curves in the car, especially where there was notable dip at 6500 rpm in both torque and HP. By smoothing out the dip, I do gain 7HP and and 5 ft-lbs there. That was the biggest irregularity in the power delivery curve. Jan was able to deal with a couple of those.

Like I said, not being able to post gains on peak numbers was a bit of a let-down until the drive home. The motor did have a bit of roughness when pulling hard in 4th-3th at mid-range RPM. Jans seems to have eliminated that and the throttle seems more "granular". I can't think of a better term there. Also... the traction control is 10X better than stock. It's so friggin' intrusive from the factory. This is the way they should send these cars out the door.

I know Jan was a little frustrated by not being able to do more than he did but as he and the others there indicated, it seems I just have a particular well-running car from the factory so I really can't complain.

I met a buddy with a 350Z when I got back to town. He'd not been in the car since I did any of the mods. His first words when I got on it out of a light started with "Holy" and he wasn't talking about Easter.

It was a pleasure to meet Larry and Jan and I owe them a big thanks for organizing this and lending their expertise. Hopefully I'll see them sometime down the road. Remember Larry, the guest room is always open if you decide to come down to Beaver Run.

lol! So it sounds like it was a good weekend all around. I'm so bummed I couldn't make it.

FYI Jan, we finally fixed the problem. It turned out the potentiometers in the drive by wire system were out of sync. We finally tracked somebody down who knew the reset/resync procedure for them (a sequence of holding the gas pedal open and closed) and all is fine. It was a 1 minute free fix, I just wish we could have found it Friday night instead of Saturday afternoon so I didn't miss my tune. Arrgh.

No time to reply as I have been out driving with a big smile on my face from ear to ear; I ran 249.4 hp and 207.4 tq. I also think I won the sparkler award of the tune as my Magnaflow cat began to disintegrate...
What a blast and great meeting people; thanks again Jan!!!

Thanks for the fireworks display. The only bad part was your car wouldn't do it on the second run when everyone was ready to take pics. Post your run when you get a chance. You should have made that third run. 250 club was waiting for you. Thanks for showing up. Very nice car.

Hey Marty

Got it sorted out. Jan did his usual great job. I'm just glad Jan, Danny from minicorsa and Brent from Towne got her fixed. Post some pics of your spare tire setup for people who don't use runflats.

Again nice numbers on the Land & Sea roller dyno.

Larry - pleasure meeting you and seeing that beautiful car of yours. Thanks for setting this up.

Eksten's garage - thanks for allowing us to have the dyno session.

Jan - thanks for coming out and tuning the cars.

For those who want to know - my car is an 02 - so my expectations were pretty low - I would have been happy if the car pulled 200 after tuning. The baseline pull was 194.7 with 148 lb ft. Then Jan did some tweaking, the next pull was up to 207 hp with 158 lb ft. The final pull had the car @ 210hp and 165 lb ft. Jan also made the traction control less intrusive and the throttle response more aggressive. The car is much more lively and I do believe the exhaust is louder now for some unknown reason - it's got a snarl to it that wasn't there.

Of course I need a new windshield - an errant rock from a truck on the way to the dyno put a pretty nice star in my windshield - 7 years no issues with the windshield - hopefully I get no issues once it is replaced.

Yeah, bad block according to BMW at least. Guess their techs do not know how to check a valve seat.

Here you go Larry, I used a cheep Ebay bar, a piece of 2x4, some U-bolts and a ratcheting strap looped through the car seat brackets. PM me if you need any more info...

Nice Job Marty, I think you got me by a few hp / tg. I was a little shocked my first pull with no tune was 234 hp / 204 tq.

I like how all those Jan / RMW parts are crap and dont make any HP. (Joke of the day)

My dyno sheet is down in the car but I remember Jan saying I had a 247 hp / 210 tq for my 2nd or 3rd run but for "safety reasons" he scalled it back.
I think I am 247 hp 210 tq. (Wed motor)

As for the ride home, I got back to West Chester Pa around 10:30 PM. My day started at 5:30 am. I had a blast going up NY but much more fun comming home. Nothing like doing 85-90 MPH and some idiot wants to pass you on the right. This happed several times on 81 south and the PA turn pike. All I did was hammer the gas and boom, gone! cya.

Hitting 115 + MPH without any problems and the car just wanted to go go go. It was kinda hard to hold back. I was "in it" most of the way home with a huge smile until I got stuck in a long back up on 81 south for 5 miles going 5 mph and a little rain in PA.

Over all I am very satisfied with my RMW Jan tune and thanks to all the great guys at the shop. Everything went very smooth and it was cool meeting everyone that came from all over to get tuned. Whats up Canada dudes?

Thanks guys

Seems the ride home for everyone was enjoyable. How'd everyone get those HP and Torque number's. Jan didn't have a Dynapac.

Hope everyone had fun. Please, if you get a chance send the guys at Eksten an email of thanks if you could.

Sorry I do not have a scanner for my dyno sheet but graph looks almost identical to MEH's and some of the others above.

My tq curve spends most of the time above 200 (about 205 / 208) all the way across the graph and ends up dropping at the end to 193 tq when peak HP hits 245.3.

I am very pleased my tune, thanks Jan. Also thanks Helix (Eric and Ralph) for all the advice and hard work building my car over the past year.

2 weeks to MOTD WHOO HOO!
