Shell is actually one of our preferred stations here in the USA. The one thing that you have to reminder is this: E85 have different blends. So the blends we have here might not have the same octane level as the E85 in Brunei. Heck, even the E85 in Arizona have different octane ratings

hmm, check the Octane sticker on the side of the pump and/or call up the local Shell office and find out about their blend and octane rating. Also check to see if they change out the blends between Summer and Winter blends :D Gonna make u do some homework here

Do you have a sound clip of the header with the Invidia exhaust? I'm just wondering how much louder my car will get with a set of these headers...I want to able to clear the noise restriction at our local track here.

Mike, what are your thoughts about raising the rev limiter on a car with a 19% pulley? Possible with the addition of the 550cc injectors?

So in other words.

Don't expect the same results

Not sure why that's so funny? E85 is known to vary between 100-105 octane, wouldn't be surprised if it varies by more than that.

Hmm, is telling the TRUTH to your customers such a funny business for you LB? It's common knowledge (maybe not soo common for some people) that E85 blends varies from state to state and even from region to region.

When i filled up in Kingman, AZ, we felt a noticeable difference on our 'butt dyno' - the car felt like it lost its guts. We pulled over in Central Kingman at a gas station and plugged in the scan tool; it confirmed our suspicion... the ecu is adding a lot of compensation and pulling timing back.

What we are doing is called fact-finding... maybe you guys should do more of that than to poke fun at others who are trying to share their knowledge with other.

Or you can stay on the sidelines and learn from those who care

cheers

i remember reading somewhere that the winter blend and the summer blend vary from 70% to 85% ethanol content... so that would drastically influence the octane rating. I guess we'll just have to make separate maps for the different blends... no worries

Wake: I'm putting some E85 Tech files on our forum and you can read about it there later today or tomorrow. I'm trying to port everything over to our site to avoid a lot of this non-constructive posting by others.

My best way to explain it is Mass Produced Beer (big variance alcohol content and you get a hangover for playing) vs. Craft Beer (little to no variance in alcohol content also means GET DRUNK FASTER and no hangover)

LB..im not expecting the same results...but if using E85 significanly increases my lil Mini's performance then I'll do the conversion.

Note that every petrol station in Brunei pumps RON85, RON92 and RON97

Didn't see this answered. I'm wondering if I should swap for a 15% pulley to raise the rev limit, stay with the 19% and not raise the rev limit, or raise the rev limit on the 19%...

Input??

Let's try what you have first. Then if we need to change to a 15% we can do it for you while we are there. Our mechanics would be coming along as well.

So just to clarify, you took your stock car (171 149 Bone Stock (untuned)), added the BVH and ended up at 196HP/177TQ. Then, with the addition of the header and tuning, that brought you up to 221HP/182TQ?

Does this include the cam, exhaust, intake, pulley, E85? Just wanting to see. If not, are you going to dyno again with those modifications added to see what your overall #'s would be compared to the beginning? Thanks!

Nice #'s BTW

Good questions. How big are the valves on the head?

Incorrect. This test was performed by Hubie on one of his cars with the BVH - it has nothing to do with the Mynes Green Machine. If you look at the dyno graph in Post #10, it was done at ABF Performance's dyno with its base numbers and post-install numbers.

The Green Machine still has the stock head with all the other mods cam, exhaust, pulley, E85, 550cc (stock intake).

Ah, ok. What did just the BVH do alone? Did Hubie have the chance to dyno before the head went on?

Any chance of Hubie putting the straight header on this car for a direct comparison of the stepped vs straight on a BVH car?

Not on this vehicle... there will be more results down the road with the various combo straight/stepped header with Stg 1, 2, or 3 heads.
