M7 sequential shifter questions...

I like the idea of this mod because the worst part of shifting is finding the gate ... yes, this is my issue, well, partly Mini's fault, as this could have been better ... and perhaps there is a mod to fix the sloppy gate (let me know if there is!) ... but the thought of not having to work to get into gear would be a God send ... driving in traffic is where this is annoying, you can litteraly shift 100's of times just going to Disneyland (2 hour drive, 45 mins without traffic) .... this system seams like it would allow me to still enjoy the control of a manual transmission without the only real hassle, inaccurate shifting...

I think I would probably just get the bump shifter, as this is more natural, I can not say I am crazy about paddle shifters ... would be better if both paddles could take you up or down through gears, like I have seen others do (pull to go up a gear, push to go down... or vice versa) ....

So, who has this system? Anyone have both the paddles and the bump shifter? Anyone in Thousand Oaks, or near by? Can I use my Mini's stock **** on the bump shifter, to make it look more stock? Hehe, I can just see the guy at the car wash, trying to figure out how to shift

So, is $6k the cost everyone is charging for the system (parts and insall)? Central Coast Coopers is closest to me, does anyone know if they have a car I can test drive (with paddles and bump shifter)? Does anyone know what they charge? How are they to work with? Heck, what hours are they open? Thier site does not mention hours, and when you call, you can just leave a message... come on Central Coast Coopers, mention your hours on your anouncement!

Is the system simpler, easier to install if I only go with the bump shifter (not crazy about paddles)? I see they have a black anondized bump shifter on M7's web site, good, as this will look more like the factory stick....

The real deal killer might be that box.... right now I have a big sub box (false floor), that takes up most of the space in the back... but I will probably re do that in the coming months, as I am tired of not being able to even put a full size carry bag back there!

Thoughts? Suggestions? Comments? Thanks.

Doug

Well, I have not heard of anybody on NAM who has spent the exorbitant amount of money on this yet. You might be the first if you follow through with it.

As for your questions...since there might not be anybody on here with the system, your best bet is to call M7. I noticed this link in the "similar threads" at the bottom

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...more-long.html

Also, the B&M short shifter for our cars does replace the rubber bushings with metal bushings which would likely get rid of a lot of play in the shifter and probably make the gates more defined...it only costs ~100 so it might be better to try that first, if it doesn't work for you just sell it.

never been a problem for me... i just learn where the gates are, not often do i shift from 2nd to 5th on accident, but every now and then i will on accident. depending how tall you are they may be able to mount that box behind the driver/passenger seat if you have the rear seat delete.

All good questions and perhaps a test drive would answer most of them . I am in the Santa Monica mountains most every weekend ,come on down and take a spin . If you are going to be at AMVIV that is another option as we will have several cars there with the systems .
