i have a super ags. its heavy/bulky/and will suck in air no doubt...

the blowoff is muffled. other than that, its just another air filter. I see one advantage to the DDM RIS... if that is the one with "ram air" then it will prevent your hoodscoop from melting, saving yourself from purchasing a heatshield/cf hoodscoop

I have had the DDM Works CAI street with the RAM Air Scoop for five months now and it still sounds and works fantastic.
Did a round trip to Knoxville from South Florida and averaged over 30 MPG at a higher rate of speed.

If you're talking about the DDM intake I would buy it directly from DDMworks.com. Just because I like DDM so much.

Just had the DDMWorks RIS install by DDMWorks. Had a 90 min. drive home and had some time to play. There was a noticeable SOP difference in engine response throughout the range but from 50 mph up under acceleration you can really feel it. A little bit of intake and BOV noise. Great fit and finish and great guy's to work with. Look forward to more products from them. I asked the question about water also and they say water is not an issue.

. but it kinda makes sense that rain would be a problem. in heavy rain, wouldn't it go into the hoodscoop, directly to the intake?

It would make sense but they have vents on the scoop system to allow any water to fall out. Also next time you are driving your car notice how sloped down the front of your car is. Water would have to make it against gravity and miss all the venting the system has inside.

so lets say there is insanely heavy rain, and i'm driving 45 MPH. there is no way the water could get past the vents and onto the filter?
and for $400, is it really worth getting instead of say an alta intake?

I wouldn't be worried but I would encourage you to speak with Dave at DDMWorks. He's a really nice guy and he will tell you how it all works. I don't wanna end up giving you the wrong information.

As far as I am concerned it's a non-issue. (And I live in Fla)
First, you want to open up the scoop by using a dremel and get as much air down that RAM Scoop and motor on.
I did a round trip last month of over 1,600 with heavy rain and some snow. My only issues was tire warning at 12 degree's. Burrrrrrr!

You have to remember that the water has to go from the filter to the turbo, the intercooler and a dozen feet of tubing before it gets to the throttlebody and intake. I am not sure what the result would be if water got to the turbo.

so with the DDM intake (which I'm planning to get soon), you still would need to open up the faux air scoop, right? would just running the plate through a drill, opening up holes, do the trick? thanks.
