Mini-Specific Scan Tool
Having a scan tool is a great addition to your tool box, especially if you do your own maintenance work on your Mini. This tool is specific to the Mini, with all of the specific BMW codes and the ability to reset check engine and maintenance lights. A generic scan tool will not reset your lights or read certain BMW specific codes. For example, you've done an oil change yourself. If you don't have this scan tool, the lights on the dash need to be reset, which means making an appointment at the shop, and taking it in to the mechanic, and all that hassle just so the shop can plug in their tool and reset everything. Then you have to pay a bill for that service. You don't need to go through any of that hassle if you have your own scan tool! And if you've got a check engine light, you can scan to find the code for the malfunction, before you even call the shop for an appointment! You will have peace of mind knowing you're as knowledgeable about what's wrong with you car as the mechanic is.

Seems like the most cost effective solution for a scan tool that can reset CELs would be a Scanguage II.

This might sound silly, but where is the port for the OBD-II readers? I'm about to get one, since I'm about to order the ALTA downpipe, and I'm going to need to reset the CELs that will come with it.
