Ehaust systems without flanges

I see many companies build their systems with flanges instead of the nicer slip joint with u bolts or having it tac welded.

What system is that by the way? I'm attempting to switch the single tail pipe of the Clubman non-S to the dual tail pipe. However, it seems the mod will cost way over 2 grand(definitely not worth the effort) so I'm looking at other venues.
