The thing is that its lost power evenly as well, we know in Sept you had 16.2psi of boost from your datalog.

If you need any more dyno time I dont mind paying for some to help out.
Again Paul, you are picking bits of info without the whole story. You claim to be a tuner, I'm not going to help you do your job. The parts I've listed before haven't changed since May. I'm sure the list is burned into your retinas by now.

We had to modify them to get them to make any power anyway.

You gave us those tunes, as I have said before Chris has been mapping cars and bikes for 8 years on his own rolling road, 2 of those years on engine dynos at Cosworth.

Anyway this getting off the subject off the RMW Water / Meth system

Thats even more confusing then, you going to have to share the whole story then.

Because looking in, it looks like your car now makes 240whp at 16.2 psi with the same parts you had in May. I presume the other car has the same parts as you and is making the same consistant power.

Has the quality of gas changed in Cali because there seems to be a lot of this happening, thus the W/M deal to bring back the power.

I know its confusing for you Paul, but again, I'm not here to educate tuners on how things work.

actually it has relevance to the thread and many others you now post in......
that and the fact you don't have access to RMW products since the tuning fiasco. Hence the negative turn towards RMW.............

You were going to send Dimsport back because you couldn't figure it out. Once I gave you base maps to work on .... (which numerous people told me not to)........ all of a sudden you became the super tuner..... The deal was you would be mapping through me, then you thought you could steal the whole pie..............

so a guy with 8yrs of tuning experience couldn't figure out Dimsport?
You are just a load of laughs today Paul

still want to explain how a 199whp car I tuned on a dynapak =250bhp based on a 1/4mi time?
yet one on the same day one that had all of my mods that made 253whp isn't over 300bhp?

We never have sold any RMW parts we only have recommended your parts to people and they have dealt direct, which in turned saved the customer money not having a middle man / dealer to deal with.

You are talking out of your *** Jan regarding the dimsport, the day after we received it we had Big Show's MINI in, then If I remember rightly you tipped a cup of coffee over your laptop and delayed the whole process, we were there to facilitate everything but seeing as we were having to re-tune the maps afterwards we were having to do the job twice anyway. as it goes it just wasn't worth the hassle for us or the customer.

Obviously Chris didn't have to look at it because all we had to do was download and send the file over to you, he only started looking at it to get more out of the tunes because he could see there was more there.

Though it did take a lot of my time (3 months) to get Dimsport to sell you another system and all the other stuff you wanted, funny how short ones memory is on that subject, funny a lot of people told me not to bother as well helping you out of your predicmant

Glad too see the cat is out of the bag with Paul. Maybe everyone will know what happened with the tuning deal now and why Paul keeps taking shots at you Jan. I find it hard to believe you didn't let this out before but I understand why.

Maybe you should get both sides of a 'story' before you jump to a conclusion.

Guy's, ya'll need to walk away from this thread a for a day or so and think about what you are posting. This is intended for the main protagonists so really walk away, relax a little then come back and read over the last 50 or so posts. If you still want to keep the verbal sparring I'll set up a special forum just for ya'll to beat the crap out each other. As it stands now we are gaining nothing from all this vitriol. People that never complain are reporting this thread left and right. This has to end.

In order to keep my post on topic with the thread, I use the plastic tank pictured earlier in this thread and I get about 4 weeks of daily driving use out of it before I have to fill it up again. I'm not sure how much power increase I've gotten, however I can say that it is nice to drive around in a car that feels like it's a cool, crisp morning all day long, every day.

You weren't even there mate so wind your neck in.

Two attachments... Chris's map and Jan's map on my car, you decide which is best.

At this point I should make clear that I have nothing against Jan as its the RMW head that helps my car make power and his suspension recomendation that makes it handle like it does so I'll always be very grateful for this. Jan's tune on this occasion wasn't successful and proved the theory that it's very hard to 'remote' tune but I didn't mind at the time and I still don't now. Therefore this talk of 1320 stealing tunes Jan is not on and I think you should retract that statement as it simply isn't true. Remote tuning just doesn't work.

It doesn't matter if Big Howes car makes more power with meth or not, just that it helps everyone in the community if we know the facts about how the car made its power on this occasion. For this reason a few of us in the UK always want to know how and why so we can learn if/why we might be going wrong, in the same way people learn from what we do over here (newman (RMW) cam is a prime example). This is a community afterall so IMO its better to show the facts then try and blur the edges otherwise arguments will start and we don't need that. This is why we've always posted dyno figures along side 1/4 slips and on road performance stats so its clear what certain mods have acheived.

Back on topic, water/meth kits make power.. end of... which kit works best I'm still not sure as not enough MINI owners have tested it on road, track and strip and until they do I'll hold off on the buying one myself.

So lets calm down chaps and base the discussion on the cold hard demonstrable facts and we'll all come out of it the richer for the experience.

I'm not sure what you mean newbs49, but I'll explain like this;

If you have your car tuned by Jan and then decide to have another performance part added to your car and you need the tune fettling to get the benefits off the new part and took it to your local tuner, who has any software which can download and modify Jan's tune, is that stealing ?

Off course it isn't because the customer has bought the tune off Jan.

My apologies to you Gnaster and to everyone else, but I'll always ask questions and am not afraid to ask questions, mainly for the reason to learn and pass the correct info on to fellow MINI owners seeking the holy grail off more horsepower.

Thats not bad, 4 weeks. But at what avg. ambient temps? I'm looking at avg. summer temps here in the central valley at 95 degrees for 4-5 months, wonder how long it would go here? Also, how much does it cost to fill your tank? Thanks for any info.

It's one thing to ask questions, it's another when you keep beating on the same nail til the wood is severely marred, the hammer face has worn away from use and your swinging arm is double the size of your other arm. If you've not figured out by now from the umpteen million other posts where a few of you, ya;ll know who you are, that beating on this same nail is not driving it any deeper then maybe asking the same questions over and over again is not going to produce answers, making it time to stop.

I think I speak for a lot of members of NAM that we've had about enough of the constant bickering between Paul, Jan, Thumper and the peanut gallery that follows them around the site with what is mostly useless commentary. Either ya'll find a way to converse peacefully or find a new venue.

I've had my set-up since the end of October, so although I'm in SoCal, the highest ambient temps I've seen with it so far have been in the high 80s. I'm sure you know the methanol system being discussed here doesn't shoot based on ambient temps, but instead it is based off injector duty cycle. Of course if it's warm out and you have the A/C on, there's going to be more of a load on the engine and thus you'll probably be in the methanol more often. As Jan stated earlier in the thread, it depends on where you have the system set to kick in, so YMMV.

As far as cost goes, I've found methanol for as cheap as $5 to as much as $8 per gallon in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley area. I went to a race shop near me and had them fill up my 5 gallon container, and it ended up costing $7.?? per gallon with sales tax. Hopefully this info helps.
