NOS

NOS.... in new R56 Mini Cooper S

Has anyone done this?
I am in talks with a company who are willing to fit me the kit for about the same price as a DP.
I am just wondering if anyone has any experience in this field or even better if anyone has done it?

Cheers!

i dont really think that nitrous in a mini is wise idea...if nothing else go with maybe a water/meth injection but nitrous if done improperly or if used too much will fry your engine or at the very least cook your head...unless you plan to drag race i dont really see the need for it....

+1.

We have a quarter mile strip here in Bowling Green that allows street cars to race. I've seen many engines blow. Bad idea, especially with a turbo. If you start messing with fuel/air mixtures like that, it'll be bad news bears. I would AT LEAST consider modifying some internals (i.e., bulletproofing your engine) if you decide to go through with it.

Believe it or not though, Holley at one point contacted me about using my first MINI as a test car for their system (which is NOS). I never could go through with it, just too risky with everything else I've seen at the track. Now, if you're thinking about converting it into a drag car... go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it. Not worth blowing something up over.

Here's an afterthought...

Why don't you consider an ECU upgrade like the Unichip or something? I can just about guarantee it'll cost about the same if not less.

I had a friend who had an old Civic (early 90s) and he wanted to show off his new NOS to me a few years back. His demonstration ended in catastrophe... it was funny, but then he was out a daily driver....

I wouldn't do it if this was your daily driver, but heck, if you manage to do it, post some videos...

I don't think the R56 could handle a lot of NOS. Good luck with your efforts.

You could always start with a nitrous intercooler sprayer until theres a better tuning option so that injection will be safer. I ran my R53 untuned with nitrous for a few months with no issues. I then got it tuned to be safer and since then I've converted it to just an intercooler sprayer. It's a lot of fun and power for the cost.

That would be a great idea! I totally forgot about those. Do it.
