Around The World and Back Again...maybe.

Hey all, how's it going?

Back in '05 I had a Silver MINI Cooper S. I loved it, absolutely loved it. I tinted the windows, got the 15% reduction pulley, CAI, and GIAC ECU Flash. But then something happened, I thought I wanted something else.

So I traded it in on a 2004 AUDI S4...great car but I had that for about a year and a half before I got bored, and I got myself a 2008 GTI.

Guess what, I'm wanting a Cooper again. And not the new ones, but the model I had or an '06. However I want to find and go with a JCW.

So to my question, I apologize for the diatribe.

What can you mod on a JCW, meaning engine performance? I've looked and I don't see ECU Flashes for it. And the exhaust is already an upgrade from the regular MCS.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks...

You can mod JCW with RMW cam, header and tune

Who offers the tune? And wow, people are opening up the motor to change the cam? That's major!

Bro, the RMW cam w/ RMW shorty header are a dynamite combo and relatively easy to install. You should be satisfied for awhile, until the RMW head will eat at your soul untill you buy it, then you will need to track down an RMW tune. All these parts are designed to work together. I have seen 248WHP minis with this setup and there are more goodies after. And of course this all goes with a good exhaust and pulley and injectors...

If you want to do some serious modding, I would skip the JCW and just get an 05-06 MCS. My wife has an 02 and with the RMW cam, head, header, exhaust, tune, and 17% pulley, she got 267 whp. Why pay extra for the JCW parts if you are going to replace them eventually.

I would say that anything you could do to a regular 05 or 06 you can do to an 05 or 06 JCW. A JCW is basically a regular MINI with a few factory performance parts added, which in many cases tend to get replaced with aftermarket parts when people start looking for serious power.

They come with bigger brakes too and teflon coated supercharger.

the teflon supercharger is on all the 05-06 MINIs and the bigger brakes had to be optioned. A JCW will be a more expensive car than a standard MiNI, so why pay for it if you are going to replace the parts that make it a JCW.

wow...u went V8 awd back down to the GTI, and you're wanting to go back to the MINI? Having a ton of expirence with all of those cars and engines, the MINI isnt even in the same class....personally though, the MINI is more endearing...however you need to put a lot into it to get it to where the gti is powerwise. Did you do anything to the gti? those are highly modable with easy bolt on's and deliver power equal to my old twincharged setup.

I guess the real question here is, what compels you about the MINI?

breaking into the engine? yeah a lot has happened since you've been gone....it will cost you a lot more than equivelant vw/audi mods...
