Drivetrain Tuning options with R53?
wouldnt a "stand a lone" do just that... stand alone? IF thats the case its just a piggy-back...
What are the tuning options for the MCS R53? I've been searching and can't find anything good.
I come from the EVO community and we have many tuning options..
openECU (FREE)
AEM, Greddy E-manage, Moton, MegaSquirt, Cobb AP, etc etc..
I don't really want to get just a AFC, because I want to control things like timing as well. AFC just don't do a good job..
How safe is it getting a Header/Cat-back/Test Pipe/CAI w/o getting a tune???
If you change out your exhaust for a turboback, you will need a tune. If you get a cone filter, you will need a tune to get the most power and reliability from the vehicle.
I think the MCS community is much larger than the EVO community, so there has got to be something, right?!
Please let me know!

cheers.
the parts will be here in roughly 2 weeks, they are ordered and being shipped here for us to start sending out
For the standalone? Is this going to be the same concept as what MYNES has been working on with the MEMS? Good to see things progressing on this front. At that price, even I'M interested haha
Nice!
Nice!
the stand alone will be more
My other question was left unanswered. With the standalone, will the instrument cluster and all other factory features work like normal?
yes it will run the dash like normal
Good stuff, looking forward to the specs/info
You take your car to the dyno and a tuner (Jan, Mynes, etc.) tunes your car "remotely" from another location via the provided hardware which you plug into the OBDII port.

"an ECU that replaces the stock one"
Awesome stuff. So is the ordering process going to be like Alta's? Where you order, state the parts you already have installed and then it's mapped and shipped. And then if you get more parts, you can get it remapped? How much are we looking at for a standalone?
I'm kind of a newbie at this stuff too but I've been waiting for a tune, but missed the time you came to Boston. And that was when I didn't have mods (stock).
I email the files to you to tune the car
the flash loader loads it on the car
it will store the maps for you to put back on if it gets cleared by the dealer
it will allow extra maps for methanol , race gas etc so you can just load it on the car and go
, then switch it back to pump gas when you are done

Again sorry for being a noob. But since the maps get loaded and it's all software, does your car really need to be on a dyno?
Can I take the stock ecu out and run the car as normal with your set-up?...take total control of the instrument cluster, cruise control, DSC...etc etc?
