Drivetrain Is anyone running the Stratmosphere cat-back?
I too purchased the stratmosphere right when it came out and have about 15k on it. Still sounds great. I get lots of compliments on it and one guy who was shopping for exhausts at a mini event felt mine sounded the best of all that he evaluated. I really like it. No drone. Nice rumble at idle. Loud but not too loud. Even passed the wifey test!
Thumbs up
My Stratmosphere is holding up great. It is beautifully made and fit perfectly. I would say its at least twice as loud as stock and has a great 'rally car' sound to it.

Stratmosphere catback is great, unless you have a straight-thru downpipe... then is sounds like a trumpet (in my opinion). With a catted DP, I maintain the strat is the best sounding exhaust on the market.
With a catless DP, at least for me, it was too loud.
I have a strat cat-back for sale (in the marketplace) as a result, if any of you interested. (It was on the car for very low amount of miles and I "burnt" the tips a blue-tinge. Not quite as striking as the titanium burnt tips, but blue-ish all the same.)
Cheers.

To repeat what you can find elsewhere on this forum, replacing the axelback doesn't do squat for HP. Sure you may read claims, but until you replace the downpipe, it's really just an expensive noisemaker.
The strat does not come with a downpipe though it attaches quite nicely to the OEM one.
Additionally, you should know that if you do eventually go with a straight thru downpipe (non-catted), the thing sounds like a friggin trumpet under acceleration.
With the OEM (or catted) downpipe, to date, the strat is my favorite sounding exhaust.
Second to that, Riss Racing non-catted DP with the JCW kit exhaust (the one with the secondary cat).

I really like the sound of the Stratmosphere but the one major concern I have is the ground clearance. Has anyone measure how much lower it sits than stock? My MCS is pretty low and it's daily driven so if this exhaust would be scraping on everything known to man then I wouldn't want it. Maybe the Stratmosphere guys could answer, but why did you design it to hang so low? Seems from the photos on page #1 that there is TONS of room to move it up. I suppose I should just email them direct...

Definitely worth checking out, I was constantly scraping with my Alta system
They have both the MK1 and MK2 on their site.
When I was in the market for exhaust systems...Pete simply couldn't be bothered to send me a few pictures of the entire system. I quickly decided that the full factory JCW was for me. I wonder why they are discontinuing it? Not enough of a money-maker I suppose. The lackluster response I received may be one of the reasons? I did consider this system seriously prior to basically being blown off.
Hi everyone,
Felt like I should drop in and offer some explanations-
The exhaust is currently discontinued. I'm running a bit of a one-man show for in-house production items, and I've simply got a lot on my plate. We had to discontinue this primarily because it was taking me too long to make one up from scratch. I pretty much refuse to send it overseas or anything, and I'd hate to have people waiting forever to get one, or have the price get a little astronomical as a tradeoff.
Now, that being said, since day 1 I had also wished to change the fitment of the system to deal with the height issue people have talked about.
Now, in the biggest tease motion ever, I'll say I have the refreshed prototype in the building, which would be much much easier to create, and still be exactly the same sounding system. I've just made it easier to install.
Now, I need to build a few, but we've got a car show this weekend..
(which if any of you are local, you should come down to)
.. and next week is H2Oi.. so it may be nearly a month before I can even begin a batch.
Summary: not available at the exact moment, refresh is complete, and I'll be doing a batch soon, and it'll be even a touch better.
what else.. did NAM Alliance ever do that review? I was curious to hear about that. It is the best sounding exhaust I have developed from scratch, ever. A local car drove past (forgive my name forgetting, yellow mini, blacked out, posted in this thread) and before I could see it, I heard the sound.. I immediately stood up at a cafe with friends and said, "That's my mini exhaust! I can hear it!" ... and then he drove past.. man. good stuff.
Happy to see everyone seems to like the sound.
I'll keep you all posted.
John
