Tranny mount DIY?

I see a lot of DIYs around but cant seem to find any related to the tranny mount. I just cant picture how the Powerflex insert goes in there.

You have to remove the upper transmission mount in order to slide the inserts around the main bushing on the front and back. To get the upper tranny mount out, you have to remove the air ducts, airbox, ECU, and unbolt the fuse box. You'll have to support the engine by the oil pan with a jack with a big rubber pad before unbolting the tranny mount. The upper mount is only 4 bolts [3 on the chassis and one on the tranny] but it takes patience and alignment to get it off...and back on. With the poly inserts it's about 10 times tougher, as the poly will refuse to make it easy to slide in. Be careful to not scratch the paint on the chassis, because it's really easy to get caught up wrestling the mount back in the car and forget you're gouging up the paint on the car!

In all, if you haven't done it before, it'll take about 2 hours start to finish without mucking about. It's the toughest of the three engine mounts to put the poly insert into, but nothing a good problem solver can't figure out in a few minutes.

Good luck,
Ryan
