Time to put a cam, head, bigger injectors on that puppy. Oh and a REAL tune.
Nice!

Hey Guys thank you all for the responses.
It's funny how no matter what you say, someone will interpret things in the exact opposite of what you intended.

A few things to answer questions:

1) The kits I installed was from Mini Mania http://new.minimania.com/web/item/NMK1245/InvDetail.cfm
I'm running the Mini Madness Exhaust...

2) Once all the technical bits are covored, in terms of what you suggested from compression, boost, belt slippage and leaks, I will probably be doing Jan's Cam and Header. I spoke to him, and he suggested I go with stock tune till he comes East and can dyno tune it.

3)
I can see how my expectations could be altered by owning a C6 Z06, but I'm 34 and level headed and know the difference between a 1.6 liter and a 427 cubic inch 7Liter V8...

4) The GTI has APR stage 1 Software which added nearly 50hp and about 100ft/lbs of torque for a $1000!!! Amazing...

For the sceptics, here are our cars... Sorry I don't pose with my cars... But my fiancee does!!

This pic we submitted to Eurotuner magazine... Was in the October issue in the back.

Here is the GTI shot on the same day...

Here is the Z06 same location:

And... This was the day we bought the car and picked it up...

I hope this satisfies the sceptics and legitimizes my interest in wanting better results from my Mini!!! It's my DD and I want more power plain and simple...

Thanks again...

Cheers,

Greg

I guess it depends on who's driving the Mini and who's at the help of the Z...
But I will agree that in the twisties at Lime Rock, I had a Corvette C6 who could not shake me loose expect in the straights. Under braking I was back on him...

A fun day at Lime Rock last year...

Nice cars! DS MINI to boot Well, now that you have proven you allegiance to MINI you have our full cooperation in trying to help you As someone mentioned earlier though, it'd be easier to help diagnose if the car were easily accessible. What's your location and maybe someone or a MINI shop near you could help... How long before you can get a boost gauge on that puppy?

I might be able to do that this weekend... I have to get to the bottom of this!

PS - Thank you for the aid!

My car is a manual. The Shark Injector is Jim Comforti's software which is sold as the Stage 1 kit from Mini Mania. It essentially allows the car to adapt to the 15% pulley, and changes the rev limiter etc... The car feels dead slow, and has no torque off the line, and power drops beyond 5000rpms.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this. I mean the car isn't so slow that I think something catastrophic is wrong with it. Just too slow for a supercharged car with at this weight!

Thanks,

G

This brings up an interesting point... What kind of gap are you guys running on your sparkplugs?

+1 on checking the belt and/or intercooler boots & brackets.

Sounds like perhaps you've got major belt slippage, or a leak somewhere.

Yeah I have to go eat a huge pile of poop. But I used to have some American Muscle that wasn't @ 500 HP it was 425 and when I would get into the Mini it just seemed like the slowest car in the world. It is probably the same syndrome.

Chad how would you like your poop? Paper or plastic? j/k
No worries...
This all sort of hit me last weekend when I was ripping it up on the back roads in the Z when i came across a fellow member here actually with a black mini and some work done. He was in front of me, and when the car in front of him cleared, he got on it, his car really took off! I kept with him while spinning tires, but I was stunned at how snappy it was! I actually needed to nearly floor the Z in 2nd gear which is enough to have me impressed! His exhaust crackled, so I literally sat there going "wait is that an R56????"
I pulled the dude over, and had a great chat, and he told me about his car and various mods from headers, no cats, some light head work etc...

I guess the encounter merely re-encouraged me to play with mine some more and to sort things out. As a matter of fact, I'm installing lowering springs tomorrow.

Heck, even when going from my Japanese V-8 to the Mini, the Mini feels slow.... until I turn the wheel and go round a corner
