Stock Exhaust Interchangeability?

I'm looking for a stock 'S' exhaust for my 2006 cabrio. What years/body styles would be acceptable donors?

I know I can use the stock exhaust from a 2005-2008 cabrio. I also think I can use the exhaust from a 2005-2006 coupe, as long as I use spacers to slightly lower the cabrio crossbrace under the car. (I've got spacers on there now to provide clearance for my current custom exhaust).

I'm not sure about using the exhaust from a pre-2005 coupe, though. I seem to recall that the exhaust mount setup changed at some point, but I don't remember when or what the exact nature of the change(s) were.

Thanks,
Scott

Cool - thanks! Now I just need to find someone that wants to recoup some of their aftermarket exhaust expense by selling me their stock setup.

I know of one locally to me, but unfortunately it would cost a pile of money to ship. Plus the fact that the they are one piece & too long to ship that way.

Good luck with your hunt I am sure there is one out there for you.

If you want to be 100% sure one will fit, call the dealer parts department & see if the part number is the same for a Tin Top & a Cabrio.

Actually, I know that the cabrio/coupe exhausts are *not* identical, but either one will work for me. There's a piece of lateral bracing under the cabrio that won't clear the coupe exhaust plumbing, but it's a simple matter to lower the brace about 3/4", and I've already done this on my car. The convertible exhaust piping has a flattened area in it to clear the bracing.

The JCW exhaust already comes with the required flattened area, whether it was originally installed in a coupe or a convertible, so that's an option too.

I knew the JCW had that flattened area. I wasn't sure about the others. If you can find an oem MCS exhaust it will be very inexpensive. The JCW on the other hand seems to command a premium price. If you can find a JCW for a decent price grab it. I love the one on my car.
