OBX header and Pulley question.

Hi
Today I just received my OBX header and 17% pulley. I have read most of the post about how to install both of them but I have one question if someone can help.
I am installing a new cat back exhaust and the OBX header with the stock Cat. I have read that I should install them then drive to the muffler shop with the open header to have them do the fit and weld. I had planed on installing them, then do the measuring and take the parts to the shop to be welded. Is there a problem with doing it this way?
Thanks

yes, that will work just make sure you get the right "cat" measurement. If you have searched the other OBX threads there are pics which might help.

AND remember to double or copper nut the obx flange/spring bolts.

I would install the cat back yourself and take the OBX to a muffler shop and have them install it and weld on the stock cat. It's not hard to install the header but if you let the muffler shop do it you'll have a much better fit and they will probably adjust it if it ever starts to rattle or rub after time.

Thanks!
I just got through installing the 17% pulley. I also removed the old muffler. I was having trouble getting the old hangers off the rubber hangers so I gave up for the night. I plane on installing the headers tomorrow.
Thanks for the help

The header will be fun - You will swear that it won't go in but then you stumble upon the "insert angle" and in it pops. If you've read the old threads, typically one manifold bolt is problematic. Some use studs, some flair the header hole and in my case I shaved the outer rim of the bolt head.

So play with the bolts before hand.

-and it will rattle and rub.Eventually it settles down and becomes a very fun mod for the money.

My experience to the letter! I found that when I couldn't get the header past the suspension parts under there, my car was not high enough on the jack stands. One more notch up and I was able to tilt the header at a sharper angle and in it went! I think I cried with joy a little.

You should consider not using the stock CAT. You are taking a wider pipe from the OBX, going to a smaller diameter with the stock CAT, back into a wider diameter with your catback. Kind of defeats the purpose. CATs are cheap and you don't have to destroy the OEM header which you may need should you ever need to go back to stock. I used Magnaflow high flow cat #94136 that cost 60 bucks.

install it from the bottom with the top of the header going in first. It will fit, you just need to wiggle it around until you find the right angle.

Success!
After several hours I ask my wife to give me a hand with the headers. She has never worked on a car. She hung with me for an hour both of us trying to get the headers in, I had given up. Next I heard my wife say there going in, she had done it! When she did it she exclaimed " yea its like a puzzle!”

Thanks for everyone’s help.
