Just installed my Alta 3"....

I would like to thank Moss Mini for starters....They were very helpful and shipped to my APO no problem and quickly!!! I installed the Alta V2 intake last week and the S/C winding up is intoxicating(not as good as a turbo scream but it'll do for now)! I am doing each upgrade 1 by 1 to feel each one working. to me it's beter like that than going in bruce banner and coming out the hulk.
N-E ways, I just installed the 3" sportone and WOW !!! I love the sound(almost GruppeM M3 sounding) and the beautiful burbles when u let off the gas. I will try and get some sound clips tomorrow and post them. I had been looking to hear some but could never find any. I heard the 2.5" on youtube and decided to dive in and get the 3" for a deeper tone. I was on the way home a while ago and smelled something burning...the damn tips were melting the black plastic around the exhaust opening...lol ...I shot back to the shop and cut around it...problem solved.

To Alta: i wouldn't suggest taking the 3" off the market just yet....
And to the Ney sayers: I don't feel a loss in power anywhere. Acceleration is there when u need it and this is from a semi-stock 04 MCS(Alta V2 intake, 3" sportone....thats it) definitely an improvement.

RIGHT ON! Glad you love it! Maybe if enough people bark at me, we can bring back the 3" system! There are some die-hards on that system. It does have a unique to its own sound that the 2.25 and 2.5 systems simply don't.

PLEASE let me know if I can ever help in the future!

I wouldn't suggest taking the 3" exhaust off the market either because Alta can't deliver the 2.5" Sportone. Had one on order since the end of June and am still waiting for it to be delivered, finally gave up and will have an Invidia on my ride next week.

I am so sorry! I have some systems in stock here. Which one did you order and where was it ordered from? Also, we do stock the Cross / JIC system as well if you want something more unique.

I understand you bought another now, but I want to know what happened to your order. Especially when we have them in stock.

Feel free to reply here or PM me! Thanks again (for originally) choosing ALTA!

I ordered the AMP-EXT-100 from my guy here in Atlanta on his recommendation and I was stoked to have it, but the constant delays made me crazy and on his advice, yesterday he ordered the Invidia which I'll have next week. Next week never came from Alta, promised but no delivery. I do understand delivery issues and maufacturing delays but at some point(close to 3 months) enough is enough.

Hey do me a favor. I want you to PM me the dealer name etc. You won't ge tin trouble or anything, but I need to trace down why you never got a system that I have / had on my shelves. No matter what the cause I want to be sure it doesn't happen to another client.

THANK YOU!

..im a ney sayer i guess, i dont think with your mods you should be running that 3" system because you probably would have more power out of a 1 ball system

I would say that 3" has to be too wide on a non-turbo R53. I 'm willing to bet that if there was a before and after dyno, the 3" exhaust actually would lose power. I know that when I installed my OBX header and had to drive to the muffler shop with an open header, I had no power. Back pressure for these cars is needed to make power.

I agree with Batrugger, although back-pressure is the wrong wording, he makes the right point. On these cars you really want to be around 2.5 inches all the way through. Hell on anything making less than 20PSI that's generally the case.

I know its tempting to go big, but it's not beneficial.

Honestly,

the system was designed for use on either twin-Charged cars, or for the eventual 2.0L / 1.8L cars with larger S/C's. It works fine on the reg. S/C 1.6L cars, but is louder than is necessary and no gains over the 2.5 in that situation.

Hope that helps! Thanks folks!

u know with the mini motor at the most u get from an exhaust setup a whole what? 5 hp gain? That doesn't even classify it into the scientific J.N.D(just noticeable difference). This isn't my first time modding a car and I was going for sound, not power...when I want a power house, I'll hop in my Marauder and walk all over your Mini in her 22" stilletos
Just being smug(but not really) seriously though, I went for sound not power and the sound is way better with the 3" to me....I'm sure Adam can agree?
Maybe some of you should read this since power seems to be your stigma

I need to interrupt for a minute regarding my previous post about the EXT-100 and the non-delivery issue, after speaking to Adam at ALTA for a few moments, which I highly reccomend, it turns out to be nothing more than a minor miscommunication. I appreciate his concern for his company and customers. You may now carry on!

Yes I agree some clients REALLY prefer the sound of the 3" vs. the 2.5" it is deeper and more authoritative vs. the 2.5" To each their own. My only point was the HP gains are similar in both.

Thanks again!
