Drivetrain Shift knobs for the MCSa
Shift ***** for the MCSa
Does anyone know if there is a different OEM / Aftermarket shift **** available for the Cooper S with automatic transmission?
I'm getting tired of the plain look of the factory "helmet" looking shift ****, and want something nicer. I'd really like a green #6 billiard ball, but I can't see how that would work.

I can't say that I've come across an aftermarket auto ****(haha I said auto ****).
I find that there is plenty to look at other than the ****(haha)..like the apex of turns, most other cars in my rear view,my RPM's...etc.:winkDrive faster,it will bother you less.As a fellow BRG'r,I hope you find a new ****!
cheers

Read this.... I know a fair amount about this topic, and have the scars to prove it.

Short version... it can be done... but you lose the button, which MAY have some risk.... but I've been running buttonless for nearly 20K miles now with no issues. Except that it confuses the heck outta MINI techs when in for service. And it's now hot-glued in place, so I don't switch them anymore.
The 1/2" copper pipe sleeve trick is the key - any **** you can drill out to accept such a sleeve can work.
