Well I got my Ignition from Dan this past Sat.
I finally had a chance to install it.
Went out for a test drive, ( oops! this is on a cooper not an "S" )
Initially the car seems more responsive with the throttle.
car was still warm when changed things out, not sure if it will help the stumble, bogg or what ever you want to call it. will have to put some miles on it to see if it helps.

Just to mention that my stumble is more evident since I switched to a K&N intake.
so to take a chance, I'm waiting on a viper system to seem if that helps too.

will post after a week or two, to share what's this ignition has done.

BTW: sorry 'bout the sig, my server has been up and down

Have a good one!
Glenn

A local mechanic installed my Pilo iginition system this morning in about an hour. My modest stumble has diminished and alot of the time, depending on how I shift, it's not there at all.....something new. Acceleration and shifting are definitely smoother, most noticeable in 2nd gear. There is more power at the low end for sure. It even has a smoother idle. Even if it isn't a total fix for the stumble, the driving experience is a happier one and I'm glad I made the investment.

Let's go, BMW's Mini guys.......we're still waiting!

Glad to hear that another stuble is fixed... I am lucky to have not had it for a very long time... Let me know how it procedes as you put more miles on the car.

Also, The ignition system once you know how can be swapped in about 5-10 minutes... like in between dyno runs

Thanks

Ordered the ignition kit 9/23 and still no ignition kit.

Only kidding Dan, I know it'll be waiting for me tomorrow morning when I walk into my office.

I hope.

Hey Dan,

I have the same question as others, but was unable to find the answer...

What are the affects of your product alongside the M7 booster?

I am about to install the Booster, and I like what I am reading about your product (and getting new/better wires) so I would love to know.

Maybe someone that knows more than me should ask Peter from M7 this question...he might have some insight.

After five days of driving with the Pilo ignition system I have been able to modify my shifting to make the stumble only an occassional annoyance. Having already installed a Pilo intake, Dan's ignition has transformed my engine to silky smooth......way better than expected and I'm gushing over it.

Today, my service manager told me he had just been notified that a fix for the stumble is "in the pipeline" and I can't even imagine how much better it will be once that's finally done. I'm also waiting for a B&M short shifter I recently ordered and when that's in, no doubt I will be in Mini Nirvana.

Kudos to Pilo Racing for the quality of the products that have been made available......and many thanks!

I am sending an ignition system to randy to do some testing, I know that he has the m7 Plasma booster, and he is doing all sorts of test(not sure if that is one of them) but it is possible that he is going to.

Thanks

I received my Ignition system a few minutes ago and I'm wanting to install asap. I've sent an email off to Dan with these questions but if somebody can get back to me before he reads his mail I'd appreciate it.
1. Does the battery have to be disconnected (instructions say nothing about it)? I had a bad experience disconnecting my battery the other week and would rather not go through that again.
2. Do the spark plugs come with the correct gap already set or do we have to gap them ourselves?

Thanks,

Ken

You don't have to disconnect the battery.

You do have to gap the spark plugs. :???:

Hi, Yes you do. Mine weren't gapped to 0.065 when I got them.

They are correct, the battery does not need to be disconnected, and you will need to gap the plugs prior to use to .065. If you do not have the tool, I'm sure that I local garage would do this for you.

Thanks

Dan, I have IK22 plugs installed, would I need to mess with the gap on my plugs?
because I have nologys and IK22's I think all I need is the coil pack, but I wanted
to know if I had to mess with anything else? btw I also have the plasma booster.

Thanks, Kent

What gap are you running now? I would gecomend opening it up anoth .010 with the coil pack, but not to excede .065. The Coil Pack is compatable with all the other parts that you have.

Oh... btw I see that you are getting the UUC. I just finished the install, and it sounds amazing!!!

Thanks

Hmmm Gap? I just opend the box, and poped the IK22's in.

I dont have to buy another tool for the plugs? My wife is going to kill me when is this madness going
to end?

Well it's been a couple of weeks now with the Pilo Ignition.

I think I have found the perfect match for my cooper,
The Ignition system from Pilo and the Pipercross Viper intake!
my stumble, bogg is near non existant
I had a K&N induction system, at first it was great, later it made the car stumble more.
I can pull away with the car cold without a stumble! there is one exception, when I let the cooper sit for the weekend ( I'M using my "S"aturday/"S"unday car ), the cooper is a bit cranky when I first start her up.

Overall, I'm a happy camper
Thanks Dan

Glenn,

I'm very happy that your car is driving the way you want it to.

Thanks for the feedback after some driving.

Thanks

I've got about 600 miles on mine, and it's hard to tell too much difference to be honest. I still jerk at launch.

While I'm here though, let's say you were due for a tuneup on your car and you had just installed the Pilo system (complete with plugs), would Mini want to replace them as part of the maintenance? And if you told them not to do it, then what?

They do not replace plugs as they are not replaced for at least 50K miles. There should nothing to worry about when bringing it into your dealer.

Thanks

The Pilo intake and ignition got me to the point where it was really fun to drive.
Yesterday I had the stumble fix loaded and today a B&M short shifter was installed.
All of this adds up to one fantastic ride. Now I'm REALLY motoring!

My dealer wasn't acknowledging the existence of a fix until a BMW technician showed
up with the software, unannounced on Thursday. I believe they are setting up appointments to work on a certain number of cars on days when the technician will be back again. The good news is that it won't be very long now for anyone.
