great job... superb testing from an unbiased source. Looks like you had fun doing it too.

just gonna go out on a limb here and say that this is probobly one of the only worthwhile posts on this forum in months. Props to you for bringing this forum out of the gutter and showing that some people here are actual people... not just internet bullies.

Not directed at you at all ! If anything you know me I would fall into that category I mentioned. I actually think your contributions are more in line with reality. You are one that I believe never went "hmm" and posted a response to. You are also one that I would love to share some projects with.

These guys did a great job and look forward to seeing what they will do next.

Thanks for all the test results, you guys are great! Really confirms to me what the guys over at RSR motorsport were saying awhile back, that for a top mounted IC the stock is good and the GP is the best after that you really need a water to air or combination to get much of an improvement. Guess the engineers at BMW aren't total idiots after all....

Well obvious to me which cooler is best and your not even using the latest version (extra diverter) and there maybe an even newer version on its way.

Done an easy to view table from the figures

No its not the W2A on his site It performs better than the A2A

Its also not the new front mount he's working on

Its a development to his top mount intercooler for the MINI. Just needs to see if it makes any difference

Your welcome, just can't get it to display as a BIG picture, I've forgot how you turn the attachment link into a link that works for the IMG tags

Great data! Was the M7 Scoop used for the DFIC runs? Why do you think the DFIC had snappier response?

We used the DFIC scoop with the DFIC.
We used the stock scoop for all the other intercoolers
The GRS comes with a diverter for the scoop and a replacement diverter (air catch) that replaces the stock one on the inside of the hood.

As far as why the M7 felt snappier? ... no idea, it just felt more responsive. Could be just a mental thing, after having all five intercoolers on in one day it was something that seemed noticeable.

As far as ICs go, there are lots of better ways to spend your money....

Matt

ps, Intense, now that you have a taste for testing, will you do more, or less, knowing what you know now about what it takes to get real data!

In order to properly install the Alta, you need to grind off the two inner posts for the intercooler brackets. This will lower the intercooler almost half an inch. I hope it didn't damage your hood.

My inner mount points are ground down.

I ground them down when I had Alta's V1 top mount on my car. I'm still a little vexxed as to why they designed their intercoolers to rest right on those mount point. I hated that about my V1 so I ground them off so they wouldn't wear thru.

As much work as it was, it was more fun than work. I would certainly do more testing if the opportunity came along

This would in fact be a bad thing.... I might end up wanting ONE!

Seriously tho, I'm really curious about the water to air intercoolers and would love to test them. That would be excellent, but allot more work than the air to airs for sure

Thanks for the hard work and the data guys! The community does owe you for providing us with some refreshing data and objectivity. I hope that you won't be dissuaded by any naysaying and you'll continue to do neat jobs like this, but that's entirely for selfish reasons . Again, thank you!

Where in the charge system was the boost probe? Pre- or Post- intercooler? This data will help make the results even more meaningful.

The probes were sitting directly in the air stream pre and post intercooler

So you measured boost in two locations? Are you familiar with the robot expression "Does not compute?"

WHOOPS! Sorry, I misread your question.

The boost was measured off the MAP sensor in the intake manifiold
