I remember reading, but cannot find the thread, about the proper gap on these iridium plugs for a MC. I think its .060" but I'm not sure

SpoMini,

There really isn't any "proper" gap for the Iridium IK-22 spark plug. Use the stock MINI BKR6.....spark plug gap of approximately 0.060+" as a starting point. I have been running my IK-22's with gaps ranging from 0.060" to 0.080". The widest gap settings lead to misfiring at low speed, high load conditions using the stock ignition. The MiniPilo ignition upgrade may permit reliable spark plug operation at the higher gap settings.

I do not notice any differences between the stock plug and the IK-22's. Feel better that the risk of pre-ignition and ignition retard by the engine knock sensor is likely reduced because of the colder spark plug. But really don't know for sure.

Would be interested in your experiences with the IK-22.

Regards,
John Petrich in Seattl

I have the IK 20 and very happy with it. I had felt the diferrance in the high RPM.

MCS, Alta pulley, BMP intake, denso spark plugs.

I added the IK22 gapped as is out of the box (.035",a note on the plug said not to gap before installing). I noticed that it is a little harder to start when cold but once warmed up runs fine. I plan on changing to IK20's for the winter. When I first installed them the engine ran worse (cold) than the stock plugs but seemed to get better after driving to work the next day. I also plan on installing the MSD coil and Magnecor plug wires which should help the cold start.
