How to turn off a check engine light?
Does anybody know the sequence on how to reset the ECU with holding down the trip meter? I had a check engine light come on after one of my plugs came loose. I think I put too much silicone grease on it... The instructions came with my Detroit tuned bypass valve but I lost it. Maybe someone can help. I hear disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes works but I have amps and a sub in my trunk and it's a pain to take em out just for that.
Does resetting the ECU get rid of check engine lights?
How long does one have to drive for it to relearn itself again?

As far as I know, the only way to reset the light is either disconnect the battery, or use a code reader to erase the code. Schucks has a loaner tool you can use, but I think the closest one to you is Mount Vernon, Sedro Woolley, or Burlington.
disconecting ther battery will reset the ECU intuitave learning but will NOT reset an SES light..
You need a reset tool once a code is trigered... AUTOZONE and other car parts stores will Loan a reader ...OK you buy it ...uese it and return it.
OR perhaps a local MINI pal havs a reset tool, or doesn't hurt to have one ...
