I see we are attacking spelling and grammer, so that means there must something to hide Wonder what it could be?

are you the sensitive type???

So I got this PM from a representative of the vendor. Greg and I were at 3 different social functions since Greg's post on the R56 thread. Greg have yet to receive a call from the vendor as the vendor claimed will be doing.

I'm not trying to bad month one vendor or product. All I'm doing is presenting my side of story, so people can make their own decisions. Plug and play ECU tuning (Canned Tunes) is one of those hard to verify upgrades, especially when you upgrade a bunch of hardware at the same time. If you decided to go with canned tune, do yourself a favor by dyno'ing (not butt dyno) right before the tune and after the tune to verify you got what you pay for. Don't just go by what the vendor as posted or claimed as before and after dyno chart, and think you will get that result. As I have pointed out in the R56 thread, some R53, R56 from the factory are better endowed than others. For example BoomerMCS with just $1k of mod on Millteck exhaust and K&N drop in filter, was pulling numbers that almost matched "the vender" claimed number for a complete $2k stage2 package, which included canned tune and the same Milltek exhaust BoomerMCS has. So how much gain will that tune actually contributing on your car?

So read up from both side of the story, then make your own decision. Good luck to us all.

BTW, my side of the story has a good number of non-partisan corroborators. So if you are the vendor or people associate with the vendor, stop the harassment, it doesn't really help your cause.

THIS is the PM I got this morning from a representative of "the vender".

Just look at that R56 EVOtech tune thread, the vendor never responded after a string of questions was posted. And the vendor never called BoomerMCS as he claimed will be doing to answer BoomerMCS's questions directly.

I'm trying to understand your thinking or reason for your comment...
George answered Greg's questions days before you posted your comment. You may want to go back and read the old posts again.

Not sure who this is directed to? But I'm sorry that I got your thread off track I just saw that PGT was selling his car and wondered why?

that would be an easy fix to swap out every sensor but since I'm not alone in having rough idle post tune, I wasn't about to start swapping out parts again (been down that road replacing things damaged by the initial bad fitment of header/mid) without definitive proof it was NOT the tune. Others have had the issue as well with a different parts mix so the tune is the common thing here. There's been a climate of 'let's not talk about it publicly' which boggles my mind.

the nature of the rough idle post tune is quite different from the normal BMW/MINI craptastic factory load. We went from sporadic to every time I drive....not acceptable if I'm being honest. The O2 is a heated sensor....the rough idle post tune seems to be from wonky data and how the ECU interprets it in closed cycle mode compared to the coolant temps. So, even after running the car and sitting for 15 minutes, it's still got the issue when starting again. Frankly, it's above my pay grade and why I paid someone else to handle it instead of downloading ECUExplorer and buying a Tactrix cable and DIY tuning (provided one could on a Siemens ECU....probably not).

All academic at this point....my car is now back to stock and being sold. 10 months of chasing (avoidable) issues with no end in sight was enough for me.
Well, I was unaware of this being such a widespread problem. Usually people are more than happy to complain when something is wrong and I haven't heard anything. I have been to MINI meets and AMVIV the last couple of years and it didn't seem to be an issue.
As I said, my car has done this since day 1 with the 380cc injectors, and is the same with the 440's. To me, it seems the hot intake air is the main culprit. What I have seen is the IAT's get above 150-200 when idling from the IC cooking, and the ECU doesn't know how to handle this.
Another thing to be put in perspective, would doubling the HP of a car from the factory magnify some inherent problems with the design? It certainly could. I doubt you could double the hp of any car not not have it run different from stock. I haven't seen 600hp Sti's or 800hp Vette's that purr like a kitten 100% of the time.
In all honesty, it sounds like you have a good handle on the problem with the wonky data and such. Why not just have a different tuner(or someone) fix the wonky data, if that is what it is, and have a nice car instead of tearing the thing to pieces and putting it back to stock and selling it?

I don't know how widespread it is to be honest (probably only the tuner knows for sure), but I respect the opinions of those who've told me they have the issue. I wish they would share with us publicly, but perhaps they feel that if they are public about it, the tuner won't help them correct the issue (if that's even possible). I can say that is indeed my experience.

there are only three Dimsport tuners I know of - two in CA and one within an hour of me. The one close to me is an angry, angry man who won't be touching my car again (BTDT and the bait and switch he pulled wasn't kosher).

Jan, did I mention I need more power for 2009 season?

BTW, a cool feature on Traqmate is Theoretical Best Lap (TBL). Which takes the fastest section times from all laps from one session and combine them together to for a theoretical lap. This is based on my driving so it I can execute an entire lap, then I can achieve that time. So the TBL for the session in the video is 1:42xxx , 3sec faster than the best lap I had. That is GT3, Exiage EX240 territory with really good driver.

My goal is to go sub 1:40... in 2009.

Great track vid clips Pure13! Did you have another session to test your latest track cheats or do you have to wait until the next day at the track?

And that R56 sure pulled good on the straight!

It is on a separate thread, but no one ever visit that part of the forum. I did not discover the section until last month.

That R56 is me. Jan don't forget the R56!!!! I'd be happy with just 25 more on both HP & TQ.

My wish list: Downpipe that buttons up to my Milltek (NO CEL'S), ECU Tune, Target results: +200 WHP +225 WTQ (current 175WHP & 197 WTQ), Brake ducts and BBK, more seat time!

Hoping for good news from you after SEMA. Pure 13 is a POWA MONGER and I want to be just like him; so bring on the POWA MODS for the R56!

Cheers!

good news for you as I have some stuff being worked on that will allow bigger turbo kits and power that will get you to the promised land
just have to finish a few other projects first
if this works like I think it will we will be building a full ground up stroker engine for the R56
