Guys:
For your header install, did you replace your seemingly perfectly good header bolts with new as instructed in the Bentley manual? Are special Madness type locking header bolts really required?

Pre-Cat O2 sensor

Given the new, and much lower position of the pre-cat O2 bung/sensor, on my '06 JCW car there is no way the connector on the end of the wires will reach where they need to plug-in.

Did anyone else experience this?
Is there some kind of extension cable available?

Help.............

and BTW, the consensus via PM was to just use the old header bolts, they are good for several header installs at least.

I took my wiring for the o2 sensor out of the clips for the whole route, then re-routed the wire in the most direct path I could. I got it hooked up. You may also find you need to 'adjust' the heat shield to provide clearance for the o2.

Yeah, I already have a straight B-line from the O2 to where the connector is supposed to connect to the bracket hanging off the rear of the head. Even with this re-route and straight shot I need about another inch. Grrrr!

Upon further investigation.............

Well, even though the O2 wire is not long enough in the new bung location you can still fake it for the short term.

So the connector will not fasten on to the braket properly, while that does suck...... the connector on the other side has a little slack so I will just need to NOT fasten to the bracket for now and can still make the electrical connection.

I will need to come back later with an extension cable or operate on the O2 sensor wire to lengthen a bit. I think about 6 inches would be optimal to allow a reasonable routing.

Here's another approach to lengthening the wire https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=120252

Thanks, and that is basically my situation as described in that other thread, I just did not need to slice the sheath, I already had enough slack.
It is not fastened to the bracket as OEM, but that is not really a big deal as long as it can still make the required electrical connection.

I doubt I will ever go back and lengthen those wires.........it already works.
